Starting again today - anyone else?

I've been faffing around for the last few weeks, getting nowhere fast, but today I am starting again. I've got a gym induction booked for this afternoon so today is the day I start looking after myself again after almost five years of neglect.

I've not weighed as AF is due and I can't face it right now, but I know roughly where I am and where I want to be. It's about two stone anyway, give or take a few lbs.

I'm having Saturday off as I have a rare child-free day/night out that has been planned for ages, but rather than put it off til after that I think it's best if I get on it now.

Today's plan:
B: berries, fat free Greek yogurt
L: Jacket potato, tuna and cottage cheese, salad
D: Slow cooked chicken thighs in tinned toms and loads of random fridge veg, rice, cheese (HeA)
S: Options (2), 175ml full fat milk (6), 2 x Alpen bars (Heb)

I have found a couple of good sausage alternatives that aren't too high in syns. The Heck Chicken Italia ones are only 0.5 syns each and the Tesco Healthy Living Cumberland ones are only 1 syn each. They aren't as yummy as Tesco Finest ones, but much nicer than Quorn ones IMO.

pbee89 · 18/08/2015 13:52

i have just come to the end of my first week, weigh in tonight! my friend recommended SW and she lost 6lbs in her first week.

i havent been to the gym in a while because i have been so demotivated, wish the weight would just fall off so i could feel confident again!!

I think I have lost 2lbs from the scale at home but I will double check at weigh in tonight

ChesterDrawers · 18/08/2015 23:36

Hope your WI went well pbee.

I've found some quorn sausages languishing in the back of the freezer so wil use them tomorrow but will definitely check out your suggestions emma so thanks for those.

I came on two hours ago to check in, found out about the password thingamy and have since been reading the epic thread in site stuff while looking like this Shock

So, what I was going to say is I've had no syns today - more Shock. It wasn't intentional but it got to 8.30 and I just wasn't hunrgy after my tea so I left it. Unheard of!

Good day all round anyway but now I am definitely off to sleep.

Some low syn sausages info I've seen on fb.

Thanks Aunt. That's really useful.

So today's plan:

B: fruit and yogurt
L: omelette with cheese (HeA), mushrooms, onion, ham, salad
D: 3 quorn sausages (3), potato and swede mash, broccoli, carrots, parsnips
S: 1 alpen bar (1/2 HeB), couple of Ryvita with cottage cheese (1/2 HeB), options with 100ml milk (5.5)

So 10.5 for the day. No gym but will walk dog at lunch.

How's everyone else doing?

OP posts:
ZetaPu · 19/08/2015 11:33

My plan for today
B apple and porridge
L those syn free veggie sausages. I thnk they're Linda McCartney ones or something. Beans, boiled potatoes, grapes
D salmon, roast veg (red onions, peppers, courgettes), couscous
Snacks are fruit, 1 choc from a box I got as a gift
No proper exercise today except some sit ups and squats.

PontyGirl · 21/08/2015 07:44

I really struggle with breakfast. I find if I have bread (as my healthy extra), I don't lose. Any breakfast ideas would be really appreciated!

emmaluvseeyore · 21/08/2015 10:16

I don't have time for a cooked breakfast in the morning, so I have 35g of Bran Flakes (HeB), 125ml of semi-skimmed milk (1/2 HeA) and some sort of fruit (currently strawberries, but will probably be banana once strawberries are out of season). This fills me up until lunch :)

On the weekends I have eggs, bacon, beans and some low syn sausages cooked with fry light. Really should add some speed food into that though!

ChesterDrawers · 26/08/2015 09:07

Crikey, what a mad few days on here! I've had a bad few days myself, not that I can blame the hackers for that.

Saturday was a planned day off plan, Sunday I was hungover so didn't make great food choices, Monday I decided to do a fast (DH 5:2s so I do this occasionally) and that went fine, then yesterday I had a hosp appt in the morning so didn't end up breaking my fast til 2pm by which point I felt dreadful and made awful food choices, then continued to eat crap for the rest of the day, not a meal in sight. So today I am going to eat PROPER meals, no rubbish, just real SW friendly food.

B: cottage cheese, ham, cherry toms on 4 Aldi ryvita (HeB)
L: chicken casserole, cheese (HeA) rice
D: salmon, pots done in fry light, some kind of veg

And that will be it. No excercise as way too busy with work to go to the gym. Will have time tomorrow with a bit of luck.

ZetaPu · 27/08/2015 14:34

I'm starting again from tomorrow. Bad few days here too.

ChesterDrawers · 02/09/2015 19:32

Still on it, with renewed vigour for September, DH and I are having a dry month and he's hidden the scales til Oct 1 to try and get me to focus more on the diet rather than a number.

Yesterday was:
B: strawbs, ff Greek yog
L: hm lentil, carrot, parsnip, onion and ham soup
D: spag bol with 12% mince (5), pasta, cheese (HeA)
S: 2 x alpen bars (HeB), options (2), milk (3.5)
E: circuits class

Today:
B: cottage cheese, ham, tomatoes, Ryvita (HeB)
L: none, stressed by DS starting school
D: salmon in 2 slices parma ham (1), potatoes in tbsp Roasties seasoning (2??? - anyone know? Not got NVs), broccoli
S: decaff latte (HeA), Milky Way crispy rolls (7)

OP posts:
ChesterDrawers · 03/09/2015 08:56

Today's plan is:

B: Ryvita (HeB) cottage cheese, ham, tomatoes
L: lentil soup
D: chilli, rice, cheese (HeA)
S: crispy rolls (6.5) something else ?

OP posts:
hellsbellsmelons · 03/09/2015 13:51

I started back on 19th.
1st week good.
This week bad.... Bank holiday and all that has not helped.
Back on it though.
Good luck.

ChesterDrawers · 04/09/2015 11:21

Best of luck HellsBells.

Am feeling pretty motivated at the minute. I think facing a non-alcoholic weekend ahead of me has made me determined not to cock it all up with other things. No point struggling through a dry month and not losing any weight. And I actually have syns for proper treats rather than wine, which is a novelty!

Also I've not been on the scales as I have no idea where they are, and that's helping because if I've lost weight I usually think I can get away with more and if I've not lost as much as I feel I should have done half a stone overnight then I am prone to thinking 'stuff it' and eating anything I can get my hands on.

Today's plan:
B: fruit, blueberries, cinnamon
L: lentil soup with carrots, parsnips, onion
D: chilli, rice, cheese (HeA)
S: 2x alpen bars (HeB), something nice for about 8-10 syns

Going to go gym this aft too while DS is in school.

OP posts:
hellsbellsmelons · 04/09/2015 11:30

Well I managed to lose another 1.5lbs last night. (4 in 2 weeks)
Really shocked at that.
Terrible long weekend I had but I did get back on it in the week.
Today for me looks like this:-

B = mandarin and grapefruit segments with plain yogurt
L = Falafels with salad (again!!)
D = Chicken & Mushroom in chipotle sauce with veg or salad or rice
Syns will be wine

Well done having a dry September.

I have so many things planned it's frightening. Not one weekend free. Must try not to eat all the buffet stuff though.

ChesterDrawers · 04/09/2015 12:32

Our August was like that so it's quite nice to have a few weekends free. That's not to say I won't be sorely tempted come 7pm tonight. But I will be strong, I've done it before and know I can do it again.

OP posts:
ChesterDrawers · 04/09/2015 12:32

Ps well done on your loss too Smile

Hi
Can I join you?
I've just started Slimming World at my heaviest weight ever Shock 14 stone 13!! I cannot believe that i have crept up to that.
Yesterday looked like this:
B. HeB branflakes and HeA milk
L Baked spud and beans
D boiled spud, peas, ham, egg and then a muller corner at 4.5 syns as I thought I'd picked up muller light but realised when I went to the fridge Hmm I looked them up as really fancied one and they are actually only 4.5 syns so I thought what the heck....#
S plums and greengages

Today

B Banana and tea
L Chicken salad with 30% reduced fat salad cream and a muller light
D prob ham egg and sw chips and broccoli that is lurking in the veg drawer if its not too sad looking or peas.
S apples

I haven't managed to get to the shops to do a big shop yet, but does that look ok?

I'm planning a cooked breaky/brunch for kids and dh tomorrow and then might make a curry for dinner

x

ChesterDrawers · 04/09/2015 20:25

That looks good to me Lex. Make sure you are filling your plate with a third superfree though as that really helps. Are you going to class or going it alone? How much are you hoping to lose?

Still not sure what to spend my syns on today, usually I'd have no problem with wine. Hmmm...

OP posts:
obsessedlex · 04/09/2015 21:31

Hi Chester - I'm going to group - hoping to loose 3 stone but also trying to get preggers so that might scupper the weight loss- I really need to go and do a proper shop so that we have lots of veg in. Busy busy work at the mo so keep just grabbing dinner ingredients on the way home.

Just had a small vino for my syns...mmmm I can highly recommend!

ChesterDrawers · 05/09/2015 08:32

Oh, good luck TTC, what better reason for weight gain? Grin We'd love to have DC2 but I don't conceive welll, no obvious reason, and am not getting any younger so I think we'll just end up with the one.

Yesterday's syns ended up being a Milky Way crispy roll (6.5) and a full fat latte (6) - was nice. Having a dry September, so wine is out unfortunately Sad

Today's plan:
B: cottage cheese, ham, toms, Ryvita (HeB), Marmite
L: something eggy, or maybe soup?
D: hunters chicken (HeA), pot wedges, salad
S: something chocolatey (6-8), possibly a latte again (6)

Need a trip to Aldi for fresh bits and bobs, so there may be some variation, but this is the general theme.

OP posts:
ChesterDrawers · 06/09/2015 07:37

Yesterday's plan changed a bit, but still on plan. I ate:

B: omelette with two eggs, ham, tomatoes, onion and two laughing cow blue triangles (3)
Late L: berries and yogurt, 2 alpen (HeB)
D: hunter chicken (HeA) chips, salad
S: Aldi choc wafer (5)

Today is looking like this:
B: cooked breakfast - scrambled eggs, bacon, Linda McCartney onion and Rosemary sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes
L: not much, fruit and yog perhaps or a Bovril
D: hm burgers - mince, onion, garlic, stock cube - kingsmill burger thin (5.5), cheese (HeA) wedges, salad
S: 2 x alpen (HeB) options (2) milk (3.5)

When I eat like this on SW I am always amazed that I struggle to stick to it. Also hoping to get to the gym but that depends on DS really.

Hi can I join?

Rejoining today after about 4 months off due financial reasons.

So my breakfast was 2 boiled eggs and 2 wholemeal toast HEB.

L: salad with new potatoes or jacket spud not sure which yet.

D: Spaghetti bolognese with cheese for my HEA.

I'm dreading being weighed as I've noticed the weight going back on and I lost just over a stone before.

123Jump · 07/09/2015 08:49

Hi all! Hope it is OK if I join too?
Have been messing about with Low Carb, but I find it too messy as veggie. I have always enjoyed SW, it is just getting back to it and sticking to it.
Breakfast- porridge and milk, HE A & B
Lunch-Quorn sausages and veg
Dinner- pasta and home made tomato sauce with salad.

hellsbellsmelons · 07/09/2015 08:58

Back on it - damage limitation required from yesterday.

B = Carrots & Yogurt (not together)
L = Falafels with salad and light pizza express salad dressing
D = Omlette with ham, tomatoes and Cheese & some salad maybe
S = Packet of space raiders

Hope everyone has a good week.
Weigh in for me this week is Thursday as I have an appointment on Wednesday evening.
Fingers crossed for us all!
