What do you do when they WILL NOT go to sleep?

the dds have been mucking around upstairs for an hour now.

they have to share a room as we have builders in.

They will not settle.

I have threatened, cajoled and now finally lost it.

But they are still bouncing around up there. The 2.5 year old is yelling her head off (playing, not crying).

What on earth do I do now?

Leave them...............they'll go to sleep when they're tired.

Our 2 boys nearly always play around for an hr or more - but they do eventually go to sleep

trouble is the 5 year old is tired and really wants to go to sleep but gets pestered by the 2.5 year old grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

DS (4) bedtime .. 8am

regularly still awake at 9.55

don't know what I'm supposed to do about that

god really

maybe I am just expecting too much.

But if they dont go to sleep by 8-ish they are both hideously grumpy in the morning

God! I've got exactly the same going on upstairs but with no excuse about builders. The 3 year old keeps shouting and when I go up says 5 year old has told him to. 7 year old is wailing, 'stop it I want to go to sleep' from next room. What has got into them tonight.
I was going to have an alcohol free day. Perhaps tomorrow! Grrrrrr!

I have the same problem. At this moment in time DS2 & DS3 are wrapped up in a quilt playing. I considering adding brandy to their milk or using the trusty mallet. DS1 is going to bed in 15 minutes (supposedly). (all 3 are in the same room)

Enid, i would probably put the younger one in my bed to limit distractions and then transfer her over when she's asleep. This regularly happens in my house and i just end up ignoring it until about nine when i let rip!!
