Froglegs- it does get better- you get better at coping! I'm not sure that babies get easier, you just develop strategies

ParanoidAtAllTimes · 19/12/2009 04:28

Oh god- tonight has not been good so far, despite ds sleeping quite well for him (3 hourly- big improvement). His breathing monitor has gone off 3 times- I think ds is ok and was maybe a little too far from the mat but it got me a bit worried. Both dp and ds slept through it every time . We've now had the first night time nappy explosion in a week or so (and outfit change), resulting in a very awake baby. Said baby was so enthusiastic about his next meal that he nearly gave me a hickie on the neck as I was carrying him

Um struggling to find the right letters on the keypad this mornign. Is it called a keypad i can't remember...

DD still very snuffly. Ended up sleeping on my legs while I was sitting up.

I wonder what sleep deprivation does to the brain? I tried to put a newspaper in the fridge yesterday.

Can anyone else not nap during the day? I find it completely pointless even trying - I just lie wide awake thinking of all the things I should be doing.

Anyhow welcome all. Tech can we have a yawn emoticon please.

night before last was 11.30, 1.30, 2am, 4.30 and phone at 7am. And dd is 3.4 (years not months)

My temper gets shorter, but I managed 10 mins yesterday and it revived me enough not to be a complete monster all day.

Yawn emoticon= A Good Idea

sleep deprevation - yep a dd2 6 months old settles well at 6pm, but wakes every 2 hours all night - taking between 1- 2 hours 2 re settle each time, dd1 (2.5 yrs) doesnt sleep throu either and wakes up inbetween - and on some lucky nights they take it inturns waking each other up with the crying- and as for naps -never slept more than 45 mins - unless driven around in car ,,, totally exhausted - not slept for 2 1/2 years. all i want for christmas is sleep :-) great happy kids for the rest og the time thou

another one needing to join the clique!
too tired to read thru the last 4 pages at the moment. will get to it during the day time, one day soon! i used to be a great sleeper until i had bad, bad SPD with DC2, 3yo , woke up every time i moved, and now after DC3, 15mths, things haven't yet improved.

i'm at the point where i can't fall asleep when i'm in bed as i know i'll be woken shortly so i put off going to bed and when i do i just lie there be it 9pm or 1am.

right now DC3 is still BF and is on antibiotics for pneumonia and so, so, grumpy/clingy and DC2 had been running a high temp and just generally unwell waking up needing calpol and cuddles, so i do feel like its a particularly rough patch just now. i seem to be playing musical beds most nights as recently i spend time in every bed in the house. just this am DC2 asked me why i wasn't with DC3 when she came looking for me, i was in my own bed for a change.

naturopath · 19/12/2009 22:27

ok, I'm joining your clique. ds2 already up 4 times this evening. As swissmiss, also too tired to read through everything, but believe me, I qualify.
ds1 (2.6) only recently started sleeping through the night. ds2 up all the time.
combination of milk-feeding sleep association and reflux/eczema/wind issues.

thanks!!

ShinyAndNew · 19/12/2009 22:37

I can't nap during the day because dd2 won't let me

She is ill atm with a cold, but dd1 has chicken pox and no doubt d2 will have them by tomorrow. And unlike dd1 who is brave and soldiers on, dd2 is pathetically ill iykwim? So that'll be a another few days/nights with no sleep and a whiny toddler velcro'd to me.

ParanoidAtAllTimes · 20/12/2009 05:34

Grr, very annoyed with self. Ds is doing really well- 3 hourly feeds tonight- but can I sleep in between? So, so tired

swissmiss · 20/12/2009 16:21

Had to laugh this afternoon, recounting last night at a kids party we've just been to.

DD1 up at 11.30 needing water and calpol for raging temp, her crying woke DD2, great. Got them sorted. At 3 ish, DS came and woke me in DD2's bed saying his knee hurt. By the ballon on he knee he'd obv twisted it (guess in the bouncy castle earlier in day). Adminsitered calpol, noticed his nappy had leaked, changed him, thankfully bed still dry. By now both girls awake again. I ended up lying in a single bed next to DS, with DD2 on my chest whilst DD1 was head to tail at other end hanging on to my big toe as she wanted a cuddle!!! Was gone 4 before I got them all off again, I woke up at 6.15 and crept into my own bed, to find DH awake listening to the cricket on the radio so I struggled to get to sleep again! DS got up who knows when and snuck off downstairs to play. DD2 appeared at 8 and DD1 slept until 9.30 (unheard of) but after 3 beakers of water during the night her nappy had leaked and wet the bed. She then came into our room as I was getting showered, dressed etc and promptly started vomiting whilst sat on DH's bed!

Atm, DH out in car with DS and DD2 who fell asleep on way home from party and DD1 is curled up on sofa. I got home from party and DH popped out, so I went to check on DD1 only to find she'd wet herself and sofa, blanket etc..... Washing m/c on over drive today, thankfully i can get duvets in the m/c too. I "heart" my new washing m/c!
Tonight can't be any worse can it????

swissmiss · 20/12/2009 16:24

Oh yeah, almost forgot, this morning I overheard DH say to DS "No, Daddy won't help with your computer game, I'm having a day off!" as he sat reading his car magazine. WTF, we've got 3 DCs under 5, such things DO NOT exist, it took all the self control I could muster not to seriously inflict harm on him.

StealthPolarBear · 20/12/2009 16:28

Can I join? Between DD and DS they've had me up about 6 times a night for about the last week. And my day starts between 5 and half past
I'm hoping my membership of this clique will be temporary...

StealthPolarBear · 20/12/2009 16:29

lol at singy end and kicky end
