I have dd2 who won't go to sleep untill 10:30pm if we are lucky. It is usually about midnight though. Then without fail she gets into our bed between 3am and 5am and sleeps diagonally across the bed. I get the 'singy' end of her and DH gets the 'kicky' end.

I also have DH who snores like a steam truck, seriously you can hear him from downstairs. When he fell alseep at a party, where my sis and her friend were both in the kitchen, they both came darting into the living room because they thought someone was trying to put the front door through. It was DH snoring.

I also work untill midnight twice a week and by the time I get home and get my dinner, a cup of tea etc it is 2am before I get to bed, where I am usually met with dd2 attemtping to sleep on top of me and DH snoring.

Do I qualify?

Picante · 16/12/2009 11:13

Ooh yes welcome.

Fortunately I have kicked dh into the loft so I only have to cope with dd (17 weeks).

Last night was awake 10.30-11pm, 2.30-3.30am, 4.15-5.30am. Quite a good night really.

I seriously don't feel safe to drive at the moment.

How old is dd2?

She is 2.7 I think she is having nightmares, hence the waking up in the night and getting into our bed and the refusing to go to sleep (anticiaption of nightmares maybe?)

I have therefore banned Scooby Doo and dd1 is now telling her that she made the moster up, there is infact no monster living in the toy cuboard outside their room.

I was at work last night and dd2 was already waiting for me in bed to sing me lulabys and sleep on top of me. Which was very kind of her. DH walked the dog quite late, so he didn't start snoring till later on.

ChrisMissWooWoo · 16/12/2009 12:17

have been attempting moving dd (2.6) to own bed for third time in last 6 months - it's a fucking nightmare frankly (although have just discovered she has ear infection), getting up to her 5 times a night, sleeping in her (cot) bed, sleeping on her floor (if you can call it sleeping), trying to get her back to sleep for 2 fucking hours

can I come in?

Picante · 16/12/2009 16:00

Now you two stop it - here was me thinking that as soon as dd hits 6 months she'll sleep through for 12 hours...

lynniep · 16/12/2009 16:12

oh me me! ds1 is 2.9 and has been ill for most of the 5 weeks ds2 has been on the planet.
DH has been brill and moved into the spare room and looks after ds1 when he wakes every night with a raging fever, then chatters constantly for the next two hours. (ds1, not dh)
Unfortunately I sleep too lightly to not be kept awake by ds1 too in the short gaps I have when ds2 is sleeping. and I have to deal with both of them every few nights to let dh get a full night sleep cos he can't cope with work if he's too tired. aaarrgghh

Picante · 17/12/2009 09:36

Chris! Welcome lynnie.

Last night was quite possibly one of my worst. I can hardly walk and talk this morning. DD has got a bad cold but sleeps on her tummy with a dummy so was awake every 40 minutes. Even when she was asleep I was wide awake waiting for her to wake up again.

oh me please...i ache for sleep. oh to sleep knowing that you won't be woken up in 3 hrs if you're lucky or 2 minutes after you've dropped off, usually. ohhh, i would swap all the ben and jerrys in the world for sleep (and im currently drowning my sleep-deprived sorrows in a tub).

i have a ds who's six months next week and hasn't slept more than 3 hrs in one go more than a handful of random times. and doesn't really do naps of more than 20 mins.

JumeirahJingle · 18/12/2009 00:31

Hey there. I just got to sleep with DD 8months in my arms (still snacking) when DH nudges me to turn the light off. It's 4 in the morning here and now I'm so WIDE awake (but still lurching a bit) it's not worth going back to bed! Very

I second the haha haaahaahaa ha
DD sometimes sleps for approx 10 hours to lull us into a false sense of relief, then the next few nights we'll discover her shouting in her cot at 1am, 3am, 5am etc.

at singy and kicky ends.

Cuppa tea and a anyone?

Shiny, my DD2 is suffering night terrors too. Wakes up about 11.30 hysterical but not fully awake. Manage to calm her but by then she is fully awake and wont sleep again until about 1am.

DH gets up for work at 4 and seems to sound like a herd of elephants stomping around the room

I then get up at 7 to take the dc's to school/nursery.

Its killing me!

Kaloki · 18/12/2009 00:46

I'm awake, both me and my partner (Kerriko on here) are insomniacs, so rarely asleep before 2am. Although MN seems to have gone to sleep before then.

serenity · 18/12/2009 00:50

I've just got back from work (bloody nightmare journey with some odd lottery which roads were gritted and which were scary icerinks) Only just made it home up a rather steep hill, don't think we're going anywhere tomorrow, but I'm still going to have to get up at 7am to check.

sb6699 · 18/12/2009 01:12

Serenity, I know the feeling.

I am grudging the fact that the dc's school will probably be closed tomorrow but I will still have to get up to phone them to make sure.

Kaloki · 18/12/2009 01:13

That's not fun, glad you got back ok Serenity!
I'm terrified of driving in the snow, since having to drive at this time of night on ungritted roads the last time it snowed

Aww, sorry to hear that Jajas!

Also, it isn't Friday till I've been to sleep! This of course is complicated on the nights I don't sleep at all

jasper · 18/12/2009 02:05

me too. My youngest is 7

MummyClausGoneCrazy · 18/12/2009 02:12

If you search my name and my posts over the past week you'll see i havent slept at all

Im usually awake until 2ish anyway but this week (since sat night) DD3 (13wks) has had a bad cold and cant sleep for long periods due to not being able to breath properlym she usually sleeps from 10pm until 6-7ish but now she's jerking awake every 30mins or so

She's also really mucusy and isnt taking much milk and if i feed her more than 2ozs in one sitting she brings it back up again so instead of her usual 5-6ozs every 4 hrs she's having 2ozs every 2 hrs.

I have tried to get some sleep but only get 10 minutes so whats the point

DP takes over at 7ish and sorts the oldest 2 out for school then when he gets back from the school run i go to bed so sleep from 9am until 2ish

Kaloki · 18/12/2009 02:12

I'm going to go stare at the ceiling attempt to sleep in about half an hour. Will keep my fingers crossed for you getting some sleep!

ParanoidAtAllTimes · 18/12/2009 08:57

Can I join in? I think I qualify- ds was doing so well with sleep but is now broken and can't sleep for longer than 2 hours at a time! Not a growth spurt as it started at 13 weeks and he's now 22 weeks. Sometimes he's up for hourly feeds

I'm also surrounded by people with magic babies who wake up for 1 night feed or sleep through.

Relieved to read on here that I'm not the only sleep deprived person in the world!

froglegs · 18/12/2009 10:49

Can I join too? my baby is only 6 weeks and never sleeps for more then 2 hours in a row. i'm told it will get better, I dont believe them! also, when he does go to sleep he makes so much noise, gunting, sighing, chirping etc ahhhhh! I have started to wear ear plugs!

To make matters worse today my partner has gone for a 'work' champagne breakfast while i am at home knackered and covered in milky puke (and the boiler has broken)
