Oh Amber, an all nighter. How fantastic and Baz. Brilliant. You must be so pleased.

EP first steps, how lovely.

Am very envious of the meet up. I work on Wed's so couldn't make it

DD was apparently really good at nursery today and made a cake She slept solidly last night after taking her into our bed at 11 as she was mega upset. I figure co-sleeping makes sense when she's away from us all day. I'm hoping that, although we're backstepping a bit, she'll get the comfort she needs and all the changes won't be too stressful. She woke at 5 so pretty good night. I feel so proud of her for being so brave and doing so well. She may decide next week that she's not going to play ball but so far so good.

It's her birthday tomorrow. One year old. Can't believe it. I'm so yet all at the same time. It is so lovely watching them grow. I'm totally in awe of her today she's just brilliant and gets more so each day.

Good night all

Morning all. Not too awful night here, asleep at 8, woke at 11, 1 and 3 then up at 6. Needed boob to settle at all wakings though, despite not actually seeming hungry...

Hi everyone,

Meg - glad your night wasn't a shocker, but for the boob-fest.

Ginger - glad dd had a lovely day at nursery. I agree re scrapping the sleep "rules" whilst she's setting. We're preparing for a few weeks of "anything" goes come nursery in 4 weeks. Happy birthday to the little ninja!

Ok night here - bed at 7, resettled at 8, fed at 2, up at 4.30 and 5.30, and 7 for the day. DH was on the monitor side of the bed so got up each time before I could . but I did try. honest!

Ginger - -well done for your dd learning how to miss you but be happy ! I am going back to work in a couple of weeks and not sure what to do re sleeping. Prob just go with the flow too. Mine is a little older though and has just learned to self-settle so might see how it goes. Mind you, we scrap the rules any excuse . Would definitely have co-slept 6 mths ago - they need to know you are there huh? And happy birthday to her - this time a year ago etc etc .

Hurrah to Meg and IBS for ok nights.
Ok night here too - 7.30pm happy bedtime (after weird tantrum in bath with Daddy {sad}) then up at 12.30 and 5.30pm but only quick wakings and in (her) bed til 7.40am! Yay!

One thing I think has helped her enjoy sleeping (and she ADORES her bed) is to do loads of games and roleplay around sleep during day. She puts bear and dolly to bed before her bath and closes door and says night night. Think it all helps.

Should go and do breakfast. Am attempting to type with finger animals on my hands that dd has been bringing to me

Happy birthday Ginger's DD

Glad she's settling in to nursery. I'm trying to relax about the co-sleeping atm as DS definitely teething madly atm. He is in his cot for the early part of the night and went down pretty easily last night so baby steps. V unsettled again last night, despite dose of Medised when we went to bed. Woke up screaming a couple of times, so obv in pain poor boy . Hope this tooth comes through soon.

Tam: sounds like a workable pattern atm. 2 wakings (1 when I'm asleep) would be great for us atm - working towards it! DS has managed it once, so maybe when this tooth is through.

I have to confess to AGAIN looking at sleep training stuff yesterday after our v bad night - why do I always do this? It's always after a bad night which is usually down to specific circs. All the sleep stuff I've seen says DO NOT TRY THIS WHEN TEETHING so I should know by now, yes? So much for my new relaxed attitude to sleep

Thanks everyone for you wishes. I'm at work for my baby's first birthday but we're going to 'celebrate' tomorrow.

CRUISE, happy birthday to your little man. You beat me to it, I was going to put a call out for you. Hope you're still sleeping and that your family are well. I feel quite emotional today. This year has been the hardest of my life but at the same time the happiest. I feel so proud of my little family, we've got through the first year relatively unscathed and it feels great. Onwards and upwards.

We had some good sleep last night. DD did really well. 7.30 - 4.30 (although she decided to be up for the day at that point) anyway, she settled back down for an hour at 6 (when I had to get up!) But given all the changes she did so well that I couldn't begrudge her a little early morning excitement on her birthday. (Incidently, she was born at 4.50 so maybe this is her natural 'up' time).

I feel like spreading the love today. Feel the vibes ladies. I'm knackered but I'm happy. EP it WILL get better. Take care all

Ginger you will have a lovely evening and cuddly night with your little one. First birthday is very emotional. We went very up and down around her first birthday...

Effie, I totally understand. It's when she is teething or really ill that I irrationally think 'oh I should have done cc or whatever' but obv I would still be in the same position anyway . For some reason, the behavioural stuff is fine and manageable but the stuff we have no control over drives me insane (and cross!).

EffiePerine · 07/09/2007 13:33

No books here, oh no

Thanks Ginger, DH has reported that DS v snotty and cranky today so at least there is a reason for him being unsettled. Hopefully he'll get over whatever it is soon. Enjoy your celebration at the weekend

he is going crazy today though. i think he's bored. we had to stay home all day waiting for a delivery and it still hasn't come. sigh. we are both going mad!

Ooh, I hate waiting in. And LO is so wriggly these days that we just have to get out a few times a day. Luckily we now live right next door to the park so it's very easy to escape!
