Can't believe we're onto another new thread already!

OP posts:
mummymagic · 25/08/2007 20:00

Meg - sounds about right! My tip is to eat with them and then just offer them whatever you're eating. Didn't really do much separate stuff for dd - or chip shapes etc. Mind you, she has always been quite advanced for reaching/dexterity etc and could pick up baked beans and peas at 6mths

Tam - of course your ds will be fine - its a perfectly natural reaction. My dd is v wary of lots of children (am a SAHM so she only really sees one or two kids). I reckon it will all come out in the wash. I'd recommend holding him and watching older kids play for a bit and reassuring him that its ok. Do you have a fun word for falling over too? Ours is CRASH and she enjoys saying it even when she is hurt. She is a complete tomboy though - not like me, I hasten to add.

My update for tonight is:
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

She is teething. Full on. Major molars. Irritable during day (NOT like her at all) and she is just finding it soooo hard to sleep. And the heat is making me cross and I know its not her fault but for some reason the habit stuff I can deal with no problem but get soooo frustrated when there is nothing either of us can do.

So nothing really to report

ImBarryScott · 25/08/2007 20:19

Meg - LOL at your description of BLW! I guess we have this to come.

Mummymagic - for teething.

DD is refusing to go to bed! she has had far tooo much excitement out today . I've given up trying to put her to bed. she can play for a bit while I have tea, and then we'll start again .

Amberjee · 25/08/2007 20:57

MEg, sounds like your first BLW session was a success then!! i think that'sthe way it goes. I think LO still doesn't eat heaps, but he is more interested in shoving stuff in his mouth, though it's still variable. refuses to eat sometimes.

Amberjee · 26/08/2007 07:46

morning everyone, hope there were some good nights. ours wasalright. feeds at 12 and 4, up at 7. was pretty settled last night, went back to sleep easily so was good. 2 days in a row has also had a morning feed at 7 - !!

Amberjee · 26/08/2007 07:47

ps meg. we haven't bothered with plates so far. i just load up the tray with floor and let him mush it around. i found eventhe suction plates/bowls are not that hard to pull off the tray.

MegBusset · 26/08/2007 08:18

Hi Amber. We haven't actually got a highchair yet (due to moving) so at the moment we are having to improvise with Bumbo and a plate! Think I'll order the chair today actually.

Our night was OK, sleep at 7.30 then nothing til 11 (which is a very good stretch these days) when he was a bit unsettled for an hour or so after feeding. Then woke at 2.30, 4 and up for the day at 6. Had to be fed three times which is one or two more than I'd like but an improvement on a week or two back when 4 feeds were the norm.

Amberjee · 26/08/2007 08:21

oh i get it. sometimes i do still just hand him food in the bumbo when i can't be bothered getting the whole highchair messy. though i don't trust hte bumbo these days, he wriggles and falls out really easily.
glad your night was ok meg.

ImBarryScott · 26/08/2007 08:39

hi everyone,

morning meg and amber - good to hear thst both of you had good nights.

here, bedtime take two was at 9pm. she went off no bother, and slept til 5.15! if only i could keep her up that late....but she normally conks out by 7.

gingerninja · 26/08/2007 09:22

yawn...we had a terrible night. Slept until 1.30 but then awake until 3.30 and up for the day at 5.30.

I think she's teething again as we've had mucho chewing of fingers, biting of mummy's shoulder and general crankiness.

DH has a new theory however. Achy legs. DD was bought a little wooden push along trolley with bricks at the weekend and hasn't stopped since. She must have walked a mile each day up and down the garden and the hallway. She screams blue murder if you take it off of her to do anything. So DH figures all that exersise is bound to cause achy muscles. He reackons that when he was a lo he'd get achy legs if he'd been playing out a lot. I'm not sure about this but I'm happy to entertain a new found excuse for not sleeping.

Glad some of you had good nights tho and Bazza, I'm sure that's a technical sleep through the night! hurrah

Amberjee · 26/08/2007 09:33

IBS - yayayayayaya

Amberjee · 26/08/2007 09:34

ginger, for your night. you'd think all the walking would wear her out, but i'm all for new (and strange ) excuses!

ImBarryScott · 26/08/2007 10:26

Ginger - for your night. Those long wakings are such a killer. I'm always hideously achy and stiff after a long hike, so I reckon that's definitely a plausible reason. Perhaps the wakings will lessen as her little legs get used to all these new demands!

ImBarryScott · 27/08/2007 08:29

morning all,

very quiet here this weekend! I hope you are all making the most of the glorious weather.

good night here. resettled 7.45, awake for feed at 1am, woke 4.30, then 5.30 and into bedside cot.

hope to hear of more good nights .

Amberjee · 27/08/2007 09:07

hi tibs - happy birthday to baby tibs! (not so baby though)

i met a couple with a 3 month old yesterday and get me, i asked how he was sleeping. anyway, he was blardddy sleeping through the night. that'll teach me!

tibsy · 27/08/2007 09:35

thanks amber and, you know you should never ask that question!!!
ds slept thru from 3 mths too unless he was teething. i seriously thought all babies did that how naive was i?

gingerninja · 27/08/2007 09:42

Ahhh Tibs, Happy Birthday to your DD. I want another one already. In fact I want two. Think i must be bonkers but dd is so much fun at the moment and I just love watching all the changes and as hard as I've found it, i just love being a mummy. However, given that i've just started a new job it won't be straight away. Anyway, hope you all have a lovely day today. We've got the 1st birthday on the 7th Sept and I can't believe it either.

tibsy · 27/08/2007 09:48

ginger, thats ok then, we can sit in
the broody corner together!!! thought i must be going bonkers, but you're right, its so lovely watching them grow and developing their personalities, ahhhhhhh

tibsy · 27/08/2007 10:14

well, dd's so pooped shes asleep already!!!! must be the excitement her favourite things are the bubbles, balloons and chunky crayons!! who needs expensive presents!!! ginger, you've got all this to come
gotta go, catch you all later x

MegBusset · 27/08/2007 12:56

Afternoon everyone and happy birthday to Tibs' DD!

A mixed night here -- couple of good stretches (7.30-11, then 11-2) but up every hour or so after that. Did stay in cot in his own room all night, though, and gave us a break from the recent 6am starts by sleeping in til 7!

Has been nap central today, conked out for 2 hours this morning and just gone down again. Hope it means good night-time sleep too (though ime there's not that much of a connection!).

Day three of BLW involved steamed sweet potato -- don't think he can have been that impressed because after a brief lick he threw the rest around a bit then proceeded to try to eat the plate. High chair is arriving on Thurs which ought to make it a bit easier!

Amberjee · 27/08/2007 18:46

glad you've had nap central meg. we've had 2 x 30 minute naps today
and for once, it's not my fault, as we were at home for both naps, he just wouldn't sleep longer than 30, and then refused to nap again all afternoon. but strangely he's mostly been in an okay mood. ihope he's not going to change to 30 min naps permanently, because even if he doesn't need the rest, i do!

MegBusset · 27/08/2007 19:42

Amber, I think I would cry if LO went back to the 30-min naps permanently.

As it happens, he had another 1.5hrs at lunch then refused a last nap so conked out early at 7. Hope he's not unsettled due to overtiredness! He has done this a couple of times now so I guess we are heading towards dropping that third nap.

Anyway I am off to cook tea in nice new kitchen... hope everyone's having a good evening x

Amberjee · 27/08/2007 20:27

enjoy your new kitchen.
i'm going to attempt to get up in the morning to go to yoga. don't know if it will be success or not. will see what kind of night we have.

gingerninja · 27/08/2007 20:39

We've had the crankiest of crankiest babies today. Full on moaning and whining all day. Went to the seaside this morning and she had a paddle which she liked but she screamed (and I mean proper screamed with clenching fists) all the way home. That's a 35 minute car journey we were all shattered by the time we got back. My nerves were shot to bits and she conked out for almost 2 hours. Didn't wake in a particularly good mood but has gone to bed. Lets hope we don't have another night like the last 2 with those mega wake ups and the constant sitting up just as she's nodding off and then waking herself up again.
Meg, new kitchen sounds nice, Amber 30 min naps are terrible so feel for you. We had it for the first 8 months.

Better dash. Night Night all,
