I'd love to know as a general survey of people as this group is obviously inundated with sleep problems.

Please state age they nailed it consistently (not one offs)

If they are bf or ff

Whether they did it by themselves

4 years and 2months never managed it yet 😳

DannyDogg · 29/07/2018 21:25

Oh Bf until 2 still has a cup of cows milk in the evening

Notquiterichenough · 29/07/2018 21:25

DS1 - (FF) from 10pm to 6am at 6 weeks. But, screamed pretty much the rest of the time until he was 13 weeks. At 17 months he started to wake at night, and was then terrible until he started school.

DS2 - (BF until 5 months, then FF). Slept through at 7 months, fine ever since.

Politicalacuityisathing · 29/07/2018 21:27

Both times around 3yrs, both ebf

Iwantaunicorn · 29/07/2018 21:28

DTs 5 hours from 8 weeks to 12 weeks, then all night to now (6 months). Used euan the dream sheep from birth, works a treat! Moved them in to their own room and bed at 8 weeks. They were mixed fed for the first month, then ff.

TheGhostOfYou · 29/07/2018 21:30

Both FF. DD1 slept through consistently from 6 weeks, DD2 from 3 months until recently. She is now 5.5 months and occasionally wakes up when she has rolled onto her front (she cannot roll back yet).

WooYa · 29/07/2018 21:30

DS (ff) was 5 weeks 9-7, 8 weeks 8-5, 10weeks 8-6 (now 18 weeks)

Move2WY · 29/07/2018 21:32

My 4 year old started sleeping through 2 weeks ago for the forst time consistently.

My 2 year old from about 12 months

Jellybabie3 · 29/07/2018 21:49

Ouch. Some really long waits for some of you!

We're on 2nd wake up already tonight so I wont be adding us to the list...Confused

DS is 15mo, and was FF. He started sleeping through from 7.5 months when we moved him to his own room. Used to be from 8:30pm till anytime between 6-7:30. At the moment it's 8pm till anytime between 6:30-9am.

Figmentofimagination · 29/07/2018 22:26

Oh, and he did it by himself. Just got longer and longer. I think having a dummy, a comforter and white noise playing helped.

GreenMeerkat · 29/07/2018 22:43

Both mine were 8 weeks. DD1 BF for 6 weeks then FF. DD2 FF.

I consider myself very lucky!

DrWhy · 29/07/2018 22:50

22 months and still waiting although he has done it occasionally for a night, even two in a row but never consistently. Was bf to a year, then onto cows milk and a couple of months ago only water overnight.

silkpyjamasallday · 29/07/2018 22:53

DD started sleeping though the night almost immediately after I stopped breastfeeding when she was 21 months old. Prior to stopping bf she was up pretty much every hour in the night and I could barely function in the daytime. However, she now gets up at 5 am everyday, which isn’t great, but certainly more bearable having had a full nights sleep myself.

RedPandaMama · 29/07/2018 22:53

About 10 months for DD. First time was at about 6 months and it was the Best Night Ever. Although I woke up every 15 minutes from 3am panicking that she wasn't okay Grin but she's been reliably sleeping through (maybe one wake up every 10 nights, usually when teething and back to sleep within 20 mins) for the last 2 months or so. V happy Smile

RedPandaMama · 29/07/2018 22:55

Oh also it coincides with us starting her on formula at night. She was BF until 7 months then we started giving her 8oz of formula before bed. Within a week she was down from 3-4 wake ups for breastmilk to just 1 where she would resettle fairly easily.

MsJacksonIfUrNasty · 29/07/2018 22:58

Both DC only breatsfed for a short time (8 weeks DC1, 4 weeks DC2).

DC1 - put down at 7pm and would wake at 1am and 5am consistently until he was (wait for it!) 2.5 years old. First year would go back down until 7/8am after 5am feed. I thought that was tough! After about one years old the little tike would wake for the day at 5am. At 2.5 yrs old we had a breakthrough and he started sleeping 7-7-ish uninterrupted. I could have screamed with joy! Grin.

DC2 - again, down to bed at 7pm. Woke at midnight & 5am for a feed, then slept until around 8am for first 6 weeks. At 6 weeks slept 7-7 without waking for a feed and would then sleep until 8.30/9am after big 7am feed. Joyous. I think people didn’t believe me!

I did nothing differently, btw. Make of that what you will! Taught me that each child is very, very different!

MsJacksonIfUrNasty · 29/07/2018 22:59

Should add, from the moment each of them slept through they did it consistently. Thank GOD.

OnTopOfSpaghetti · 29/07/2018 23:04

DS1 - 5 years
Then had DS 2 - 5 years
That's 10 years of interrupted sleep😱
I make boys that don't sleep. I'm not having any moreGrin

Continentalmama · 29/07/2018 23:07

From 2.5 weeks was sleeping 11-9 with one wake up and from 4 weeks sleeps 10-8 or 11-9. Mixed fed with formula before bed. Shes only 7 weeks tho so maybe this is just a phase, hopefully not though!

shirleyschmidt · 29/07/2018 23:09

DC1 9-10 months. FF from 6 weeks. Now 2 and a brilliant lazy sleeper. Those first months were horrendously bad though, up every hour or so every single night without fail. Changed overnight and I never worked out why.

DC2 5 months. Never a 'crap' sleeper even while BF but seemed to start actually going through once I introduced formula at 4mos.

The only thing we 'did' was put them in their own rooms. I think a bit of separation probably makes for less chance of us and DC hearing each other through the night.

Btw I think everyone has their own take on what constitutes sleeping through. FWIW 7-3 seems quite a good run as he's managing 8 hours! If he the timings were bed at 10 and up at 6 I would say he'd gone through Smile

Singerleon · 29/07/2018 23:12

17 months! EBF (and still had a bedtime feed at 20 months)

Was just like a switch flicked and now sleeps 11-12hrs with no wake ups

minipie · 29/07/2018 23:12

Consistently - in the sense that I could go to bed and expect to hear nothing till morning - from about age 3. Maybe a bit earlier, but definitely not till after all teeth were through.

Both EBF, but both were able to self settle from 6 months or earlier and both night weaned around 8/9 months. Wake ups had nothing to do with food or "training"
/sleep habits - DD1 is a congenital insomniac (has now been prescribed melatonin) and DD2 is just a wuss very light sleeper who wakes as soon as something is even slightly wrong.

Booop · 29/07/2018 23:17

between 5 and 9 weeks but only til they hit 5 months then they all woke up til I did cc at about 9 months. All BF til 1year old but stopped feeding at night asap.(ie about 5 weeks)

converseandjeans · 29/07/2018 23:30

DD from 6 weeks with dream feed at 10pm til about 16 weeks then 7-7 thereafter.
DS from 6 weeks but needed dream feed longer. It was a battle to get him to go to sleep before midnight at first - he would try and sleep all afternoon. He also only ever did 11 hours. So 7pm bed time would always mean 6am wake up. So had to factor that in.
Both always had 2 hours after lunch. Sadly both dropped their nap early - like just after 2nd bday. Otherwise they didn't go to bed on time.
Both FF and both did Gina Ford routine (loosely)
