DD (5) and DS (2) both bathed and in bed by 7/7:30pm. Sometimes DD reads for a while and DS looks at books too in his cot then lays down.........then waked up about 4 times throughout the course of the night!
But DD loves her sleep and often has to be woken up at 7:30 for school.Apart from 9 being far too late for the kids of your cousin, I'd imagine their parents don't feel as though they've had an evening. I like to get mine to bed and then I/we can relax. I admit though, I'm often up at midnight/1am as I still feel I need more time on my own without the kids!!!

7.30 on a school night here too. 8pm (or later) on w/e

My 8 and 5 years old go to bed at 8pm on school nights. At weekends they are in bed by 10pm the latest. Thats if they are still awake by then, DS tends to be falling asleep by 9pm so we send him to bed then.

mine (nearly 5 and nearly 3) go to bed at 8, by 8.30 it's usually very quite.

gingersj · 07/05/2007 20:54

4 year old goes at 7.30 and is out like a light, 6 year old is at 8pm and normally asleep by 9

wheresthevalium · 07/05/2007 20:56

DD1 (nearly 5) and her sis (3.5) both go to bed between 7 and 7.30, but a bit later on the weekends. Having said that, DD2 is still wide awake as I type and is most nights at this time.

\Gosh - these all seem very late to me. Dc4 has her bath at 6pm and is in bed at 6.30 having had a story. She usually looks at books for half an hour or so but often just drops off if she is tired. Saturday night is 'stay up night' in pjs, no bath, and out cold by 7.30pm usually.

Callmemadam · 07/05/2007 21:15

Mind you, the eleven year old DD is a whole different ball game

utterlyconfused · 07/05/2007 21:19

Ds2 is just 5 and would gladly go for his bath at 5.30 and be asleep for 6. However this is impossible with the others so I aim upstairs at 6ish and light is off at 7ish and he's asleep within 10 seconds. However, he's an early riser, no matter what time he goes down.
Dd on the other hand, can be up messing around until 9 or 10 and would sleep for ever in the morning if she could.
But her bedtime's still the same. Light off at 7.30/7.45. She's almost 7.

My dd is 5 and is in bed by 7 and asleep by just after on a school night. I read her a story with her brother (3) who goes to sleep at about 6:45 so that probably makes it earlier than if she were the youngest IYSWIM. School does seem to tire her out though.

tortoiseSHELL · 09/05/2007 21:59

Just seen this thread - my 5, nearly 6 year old who is in Y1 goes up to bed at about 8.30 (or 8 if I'm in on my own!), but he usually reads till about 10 or 10.30. He has always had problems getting to sleep, but he does stay in bed generally.

tangarine · 09/05/2007 22:05

My 5 yo goes upstairs about 7, has stories and cuddles until about 7.30 then either falls straight asleep or messes around getting in and out of bed/drinks of water/trips to the loo/getting told to go to sleep until 9pm ish. He's awake at 6.30 every morning so needs an early night. And if he goes to bed late he wakes up even earlier.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 09/05/2007 22:27

9pm deffo too late.

My 5yo is in bed between 7 - 7.30pm.

(But Saturdays are Dr Who/Harry Potter nights and she can stay up until 8.30ish).

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 09/05/2007 22:28

tortoise - that's amazing. A lot of my friends can't stay up that late

mrspink27 · 09/05/2007 22:34

Both dds, 3 and almost 5, go up at the same time between 6 and 6.30 and we are generally back down by 6.45 and 7. DD1 has started to read to herself a bit after we come downstairs but so far has been very good at turning out the light within 10 or 15 minutes.

kslatts · 09/05/2007 23:12

My dd's (7 and 5) go to bed at 8pm and are asleep by 8.15pm, I work so have to wake them at about 7.30am during the week. At the weekend they will usually still go to bed about 8pm unless we are going out and then they go later.
