Thank you!

At 8 weeks this is totally normal!

Haggisfish · 31/10/2014 08:03

This is perfectly normal, so I can't suggest anything! The vast majority of babies, bf or ff will wake at least twice a night for feeding until they are about six months (and even then, lots still wake).

Count your blessings

Thehedgehogsong · 31/10/2014 08:04

Only twice? Lucky you :) these things change so fast it's best to just go with the flow. In two weeks your baby's sleep will be totally different, then at 4 months all hell usually breaks loose as the 4 month sleep regression starts.

Go with the flow... This too shall pass. Nothing stays the same with a baby. (Any other cliches I've forgotten Grin)

GColdtimer · 31/10/2014 08:05

In fact not normal, you are very lucky.

PenguinsIsSleepDeprived · 31/10/2014 08:06

Twice is amazingly brilliant at this age. What were you expecting and why? Smile

No, you don't want to cut it out. This is normal and he is waking because he is hungry and needs feeding.
Sorry, not want you wanted to hear, but if you grin and bear it, it will pass.
Another thing to remember is that your hormone levels are highest at night so it's helping keep your milk supply up.

SocksRock · 31/10/2014 08:06

Ah, I used to pray to be only woken twice. At 8 weeks that is a totally normal pattern.

4 times a night at 11 months - I did put my foot down at that point!

ZumZee · 31/10/2014 08:06

My 5month old feeds 4 times a night. We have tried everything. I think you have a good sleeper :)

43percentburnt · 31/10/2014 08:07

Totally normal. I would feed him back to sleep. However I cosleep as I hate wandering round in the night, I find it hard to go back to sleep.

Do you feed at 11:45 but not at 2am?

ItsNotEasyBeingGreenAndWarty · 31/10/2014 08:07

At this age my DS was waking every 2-3 hours for a feed. I think you're very lucky with twice a night. Smile

Azurea · 31/10/2014 08:08

Only twice!!! I don't understand the problem, your tiny baby only wakes twice for feeding my 20 month old wakes more than that.

Want to swap?

magpiegin · 31/10/2014 08:09

You shouldn't try and cut it out, he'll go too long without food with him being so young. Twice a night is great for an 8. Week old.

MinginInTheRain · 31/10/2014 08:09

He wakes at 11.45 and then the next feed is 4am and you want to cut that out? Think that would be too limiting. If you can settle at 2am then he might stop waking then soon and 11-4 is a good stretch of sleep for you and him.

It's not a disaster OP but I get that you would like it to be better Grin

Azurea · 31/10/2014 08:09

Feed him when he wakes at 2:00am, why wouldn't you he's only 8 weeks old?!

Monathevampire1 · 31/10/2014 08:10

Twice in twelve hours is amazing, it's actually a long time between feeds for an eight week old.

BikeRunSki · 31/10/2014 08:12

Woo! DD was still waking up 2 or 3 times in the night at 2.5, 8 weeks is nothing like old enough to except anything less.

Hakluyt · 31/10/2014 08:13

Sorry- what everyone else says. He's too little to cut out any feeds just yet.

applecatchers36 · 31/10/2014 08:15

My 10 month old still wakes 3 times for a feed in the night, you are lucky & think it's normal for such a small baby...

Heatherbell1978 · 31/10/2014 08:16

I thought the title of the post meant you were worried he wasn't waking enough....! DS1 is 10 wks and follows a similar pattern and I think I'm quite lucky. But why won't you feed him at 2am? If you did he'd settle better, he's hungry!

lornemalvo · 31/10/2014 08:16

Agree with everyone else. At 8 weeks bf babies quite often feed for half the night. 2 of my 3 did and the other fed more than twice. They need to feed frequently.

katandkits · 31/10/2014 08:17

Just feed him at 2 when he wakes, you've been woken up anyway so you might as well and then you might only get woken up again at six instead of four. Two feeds is totally normal. Sympathy though as it is tiring but you just have to get used to it. Perhaps he will take a bottle and you can have a break a couple of times a week?

Blu · 31/10/2014 08:19

They have tiny little bodies and tiny walnut sized stomachs. They simply cannot sustain themselves without frequent feeds.

Sorry , I know it's tough. It's the most gruelling thing and there is no way round it at this stage . Do you have any daytime support and help? Are you able to nap during the day when your baby sleeps?
