8w and breastfed and you are complaining with two times????

feed as well in the 2am wake up and he might go longer but then might wake at 5

LittleBearPad · 31/10/2014 08:20

Just feed him, he's hungry.

Twice a night is good, sorry but it is. Dad was ff and woke at least twice a night until about 14 weeks.

Elllimam · 31/10/2014 08:20

My 15 week old wakes 4 plus times overnight, my 23 month old wakes once. You are doing well :)

LittleBearPad · 31/10/2014 08:22

Sorry lovely. I know you must be tired but it is completely normal.

Iloveweetos · 31/10/2014 08:22

Dd is 7 months and wakes 5 times. I dream of 2 :(

Treesandbees · 31/10/2014 08:22

Can't tell you how lucky you are!! My DS woke 3-4 times a night until he was 7 months old. I wouldn't look to cut night feeds until you start weaning.

Mrsantithetic · 31/10/2014 08:23

I wish my two year old would only wake for 2 feeds.

5 times last night for just "a little bit of booby"

Whilst my 12 week old woke twice Grin

I know it's knackering but try to go with the flow - 8 weeks is tiny as everyone has said. I'd still be expecting a breastfed baby to wake every 3-4 hours at this age. Your supply will be well on the way to being established now (and these nighttime feeds will be helping that) - you could begin to think about maybe one of these feeds being ebm from a bottle?

I used to give the DC their last feed before 'bed', and get to bed myself. Then when they woke around 11-12, DH would do that feed. That meant he could still get a good sleep before work and I'd get maybe a solid 5 hours before they woke at 3-4. Could that work for you? Do you have help?

DD was a bit prem, a bit 'sleepy' and for the first few weeks we had to wake her to feed her. It was shattering. I do sympathise. With DS I just co-slept, which worked for us.

fuzzywigsmum · 31/10/2014 08:36

Yep, twice a night is brilliant. My first DD was like that. If she's happy to settle without a feed at 2 stick with that too. You could try getting DP to give a dream feed of expressed milk or formula at 11pm and then you'll only have to feed once. I did that with DD1 and by 3 months she often didn't wake in the night for a feed at all. But - and this is a big but - not feeding in the night can affect your supply. Especially when, by fixating On cutting night feeds you can fail to recognise DC is having a growth spurt. This is what happened with me and DD1 and it really interfered with BFing, so I didn't do a dream feed with DD2. On balance though, if I ever did this again I would dream feed but keep it to 4oz max and always BF instead if baby starts waking early for the feed in case it's a growth spurt.

JabberJabberJay · 31/10/2014 08:40

BF babies typically only go 2-3 hours between feeds at this age. If your baby wakes up hungry, you should feed them. This is completely normal!

It's hard to have interrupted sleep but the time between feeds should get longer as he gets older.

plannedshock · 31/10/2014 08:44

Mine woke every 2hrs regular as clockwork until 6mths when I refused to feed until after midnight! Your breastfeeding, your baby is 8wks-feed it. There's no need to drop any feeds yet.

Cupcakes123 · 31/10/2014 08:49

My 12 week old still wakes twice a night for feeding, I'd consider yourself lucky that yours sleeps so well already! Wink

BendyMum15 · 31/10/2014 11:21

My 6 month old wakes anything from 2 to 5 times a night for a feed and each time she has a full feed despite having lots of milk in the day and is on solids too.
DS is nearly 3 and woke once a night for a feed until 11 months and now keeps waking me up because his 'covers are wrong' and they need to be straightened out.
It does get easier but in the meantime if you can nap when baby naps, don't worry about housework too much and accept all offers of help and even ask for help if you can. Oh, and my life saver -go to bed same time as baby so you aren't getting woken an hour after going to bed (I find this a killer - I've just dropped off properly and then its a struggle to wake back up to do the feed).
Hope all settles for you soon! x

mrshope · 31/10/2014 13:17

Like everyone says - this is amazing!
My 4 month old wakes 4 times a night.
Grin and bear it!

butterfly86 · 31/10/2014 19:17

You def have it good op! My dd fed every 2 hours formula fed too until 10 weeks, at 19 weeks she still wakes twice to be fed once if we're lucky, although we seem to be going through a sleep regression atm she is waking numerous times and wants to get up for the day 4.30/5am! Yawwwwn!

blushingmare · 31/10/2014 21:25

Oh gosh! 6 month old here and longing for him to only wake twice for feeding! Enjoy it while you can!

Missmidden · 31/10/2014 21:33

I'm afraid you won't get much sympathy for this on the sleep forum fkak, but I do actually have a practical suggestion for you. Have you tried a dream feed at whatever time you go to bed? This may mean you get a waking closer to 2am which might see him through to morning based on the hours he seems to be able to go without a feed.

ouryve · 31/10/2014 21:35

Absolutely normal.

Iggi999 · 31/10/2014 21:36

Have you been speaking to someone who's said it shouldn't be happening?

Honeybear30 · 31/10/2014 22:21

Twice and you want to cut a feed?! Is this real?

Eminado · 31/10/2014 22:29

What makes you think you need to change this?

ToddleWaddle · 31/10/2014 22:37

My 17mo dd has just started sleeping throats but my 3.5 yo wakes 2/3 most nights.
Only twice is amazing at 8wo.

didireallysaythat · 31/10/2014 22:47

My 4 yr old wakes twice most nights, admittedly not for a feed but to continue the stream of 'why?' questions. Why do you need to put stamps on letters ? At 8 weeks I think he had 2-3 bf a night if that helps. All part of the training.
