I think we do.
We need a special topic to discuss cars. Wich ones to get, and not get.

I need this topic now.

QS my lovely yellow Fiat 500 goes through a ford most days no problems
I have put this to the others.
If it was just up to me it'd be a hell yeah but y'know, meant to be a joint decision etc

CrankyTwanky · 14/04/2010 22:45

Oooh Quint the XC70 & 90 are luverly. We nearly bought a xc70, but the tax would be £££.

QuintessentialShadow · 14/04/2010 22:47

but Olivia, I live in the arctic.
I have snow, ice, sleeth, mud, a mixture of all three, and rivers running through roads, and indeed even ripping through tarmac on roads, so I think your lovely Fiat 500 might retire early if it was here. Shame. check ALL the road pictures on this page

Thanks for putting the motoring topic request forward to the other Powers That Be.

"QS my lovely yellow Fiat 500 goes through a ford most days no problems"

Do you really mean that? I mean really really really?

It's like NotanOtter's car with wee inside.

When you eventually set up this Car topic, can you put a BIG WARNING AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE that people need to carefully read their own posts before they press send.

MmeLindt · 14/04/2010 22:54

Yes to motoring topic.

My parents have the Quashai (is that how you spell it) and LOVE it.

That is probably a good reason for you not to buy it though.

All the posh school run mums around these parts have Volvos or Q7s or BMW X5.

Do you need 7 seats?

And why not a Landy?

My favourite 4x4 is the Skoda Octavia Scout. I had it for a couple of weeks when we moved house and did not want to give it back. FAB car. Drove as well as my DH's BMW.

OliviaMumsnet · 14/04/2010 23:02

PMSL at driving my car through a ford!
It is a landmark not a vehicle.
I will put a pic on my profile of the ford in question
But while I will indeed be pestering for a Motoring topic, it does seem perhaps Quint that your needs are v specific. Sounds like you need ArcticPetrolHeads.com or something

NotanOtter · 14/04/2010 23:26

thisisyesterday they soooo do!!

my other car is a beetle!

QuintessentialShadow · 15/04/2010 06:43

olivia, that is a mere puddle!

off to look up arcticpetrolheads.com....

(fear I will be run over by snowmobiles and quadbikes)

QS I have just looked at those pictures
I think there just seems to be some local confusion regarding rivers and roads?! Maybe you need amphibiousvehicleworld.co.uk?

I am also PMSL at the ladyshave advert on that site.
Like you're gonna have your wellies off long enough to shave your legs (!))

thisisyesterday · 15/04/2010 11:29

my first 2 cars were beetles. I had to get rid of my beautiful bright pink one when i had children as couldn't fit the pram in

I am saving for a bus though!!!

JustineMumsnet · 15/04/2010 11:40

Ok we'll give it a go and see if it's popular.

QuintessentialShadow · 15/04/2010 17:51

thank you.

It should be named after me.

QuintessentialShadow · 17/04/2010 14:32

So, where is "my" car topic???

I am in a BIG quandry, and having tested Toyota Rav4, petrol, automatic, and Honda CRV, petrol automatic, AND the Nissan Quascai+2 (sp) diesel automatic, I dont know WHAT TO DO!!!

I can get a brand spanking new quascai for just a little bit more than the crv and teh rav4. What to do....

OP posts:
HinnyPet · 18/04/2010 17:37

Ooooooo just seen a crv for £3999 at local dealer. I had heart set on a freelander but the crv looks very pretty.
71k miles on clock, Electrics, cd player, air con, petrol etc.
Can't work out how old it is cos it's new type number plate but it must have been registered after 2000 as our scenic is an x reg on 2000 ( if that makes sense)

JustineMumsnet · 18/04/2010 21:50

Manana, manana [wish I knew how to do that little spanish squiggly thing on a mac emoticon]

nannynick · 18/04/2010 22:06

HinnyPet - UK Registration Plates (2001 onwards) will help you work out how old it is.

HinnyPet · 18/04/2010 22:46

Cheers Nannynick! That definately helps

OliviaMumsnet · 19/04/2010 11:31

Here you go

HinnyPet · 19/04/2010 17:24

Ah thank you Olivia.
Now if you could just magic the iPhone app please!

QuintessentialShadow · 20/04/2010 22:19

thanks!
