Do we need a CAR topic?

I think we do.
We need a special topic to discuss cars. Wich ones to get, and not get.

I need this topic now.

Give her what she wants or she'll just keep on posting under site stuff....

QuintessentialShadow · 14/04/2010 22:14

GFate. NOT being sneaky.

I DO want a motoring topic. I am muchly interested in both motorbikes, pushbikes (ok health and fitness maybe rather than motoring), campervans (ok, camping topic) and CARS.

I do have a Fiat. and I hate it.

I love those Fiat 500's. There are loads round my way. Driving schools seem to love them.

NotanOtter · 14/04/2010 22:15

we are awaiting our new caravelle and in the meantime are slumming it in an N registered volvo estate ( certainly turns heads and every one thinks we have hit hard times) but LOVING IT

i would recommend a volvo to anyone- ours has 209000 + miles but what a smooth ride...

those fiats look nice good colours

QuintessentialShadow · 14/04/2010 22:16

try driving up a road that thinks it is a river, with both mud, ice, slush and pebbles, in a Fiat Stilo, and you are DOOMED.

those audi 4x4 things are awful
inverse tardis

thisisyesterday · 14/04/2010 22:17

mmm we have a volvo too and it's fabulous

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 14/04/2010 22:18

Do you mean the Q7? Yes, they look horrid. I do have a soft spot for Audi's though.

NotanOtter · 14/04/2010 22:19

the boot is just GREAT! we had a cast iron bath in it no bother...

NotanOtter · 14/04/2010 22:19

yes Q7 HUGE but wee on the inside

NotanOtter · 14/04/2010 22:19

those new chryslers ewwwwwww

CrankyTwanky · 14/04/2010 22:20

Yes yes yes!

I've thought this for a while actually.
A motoring topic could encompass car seats, lift etiquette etc.

And I want to talk about my new Volvo. It's purdy.

QuintessentialShadow · 14/04/2010 22:24

I love volvos. Both the V70, V90 and the XC90 are very nice. But too expensive here. around £80k new, and hard to come by second hand!

The mazda cx 7 is also very nice. But maybe also too low for us.

I also think Petrol rather than Diesel, and automatic.

I'm not buying any vehicle with wee in it already thank you. I have people to arrange my own territorial marking.

HinnyPet · 14/04/2010 22:24

Yes please can we have a car topic.
I would like a freelander please. Or a rav4. Or a terrano. Or anything with 4 wheels, decent boot that doesn't get stuck in sodding snow [rural emoticon]

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 14/04/2010 22:25

I think we should have one too, have nearly posted the same thing myself before! It could include car suggestions/recommendations but also other types of car and driving-related questions, like problems and how to fix them, road rules, advice on accidents,... oh yes and car seats and other kids-in-cars stuff, like Cranky said.

OrmRenewed · 14/04/2010 22:27

otter - how do you fill it then?

The bath I mean.

And what about privacy? Or do you just use it in the garage?

NotanOtter · 14/04/2010 22:27

quint - i ogled a volvo XC70 today
my exact words were ' Oooh check out that it's an X....C...70 not seen that before - very snazzy'

CrankyTwanky · 14/04/2010 22:28

We could bump off an underused topic if it makes you naysayers happy.
How about "weather"?
Or "School Holidays"?

Where else could I talk about tyre chains?
Or admire Olivia's stirling choice of car colour.

I've only ever seen, ahem, older motorists in Rav4s btw.

thisisyesterday · 14/04/2010 22:29

yes when we decided to buy our v70 there were none to be found! we went on waiting lists at several places for one! lol

NotanOtter · 14/04/2010 22:34

orm

CrankyTwanky · 14/04/2010 22:35

No I couldn't find a v70 either, TIY.
We have a V40 Sport, which is actually quite small, but was a bloomin' bargin. And looks nice enough to keep the Mr happy.
Compared tothe Vauxhal Nova I had before, it's amazing!
