Offline earlier this evening

Mumsnet was offline for several hours earlier this evening. This was due to a hardware fault on one of the several servers used to run the site. Thanks for the various emails of moral support, offers of virtual biscuits and the amusing conspiracy theories.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Lol at netmums.

I went on there and had a look. Couldn't actually be arsed to register and I just read the coffeehouse rules (oh god how bored was I).

Looks like a pile o' shite. And how pink it is over there.

Poledra · 16/02/2010 08:42

YetMoreTech, could you please arrange to break the servers during working hours? Then at least I might get some work done. Instead, I wandered lonely through the net, that floats high o'er sites and blogs, When all at once I saw a crowd, A host of yellow daffodils pale pink tickered mums.

No I resisted going into Netmums and sorted out my car insurance instead. Worthy, but dull.

GetOrfMoiLand · 16/02/2010 08:44

Actually lolling at netmums.

I went over there ot have a look ant thopught must post on MN when it is back up and running to say I have defected. Didn't know loads of us nutters were doung the same thing

WeNeedToLeaveInFiveMinutes · 16/02/2010 08:45

I spent all evening on farmville. Now I'm a fan but not that much of a fan. I went to visit some sites I used to use but boy, are they dull, dull, dull!

Cyb · 16/02/2010 08:48

Unless.....UNLESS...the party was actually last night and they wanted us all out of the way......

EarthMotherImNot · 16/02/2010 08:52

So thats what cold turkey feels like

The song lines "I made it through the night, I got myself connected" kept going round and round in my head

I know its rain and protected but in my head thats how it went

StealthPolarBear · 16/02/2010 08:57

Buda - that's what I thought Look out for a load of birth announcements in November

Poledra · 16/02/2010 09:00

God, no, SPB, I wasn't that bored!!

MmeLindt · 16/02/2010 09:00

I would rather speak to DH than go on Netmums.

It is too fluffy for me.

LittleMarshmallow · 16/02/2010 09:04

I joined netmums too was a scary experience one I don't want to repeat again.

SleepingLion · 16/02/2010 09:13

Ooh, I just went over to netmums to have a look. It's all pink and lol and hun

Why does the word 'hun' make me want to rip my own arm off just so I have something to throw at the screen? I am seriously considering blocking a FB friend because she uses 'hun' and 'mommy' and I just can't bear it.

Am I a touch too judgey?

southeastastra · 16/02/2010 09:15

i read all the jsp comments re mumsnet on twitter. was quite funny how many people were linking it. lots of people seem to need to get a life.

Poledra · 16/02/2010 09:25

You can only use the word 'mommy' if you are American - otherwise, it is cringeworthy.

springlamb · 16/02/2010 09:27

Well DH got up and left for work really early this morning without even waking me.

I think he was trying to avoid another five hours of me wandering around "it's still broke....what is going on....I don't know what to do now..."

But I discovered Fit Men in the snowboarding competition in Vancouver, quite exciting really.

southeastastra · 16/02/2010 09:28

i watched the snowboarding too! wasn't it good, peed off we didn't see the medal ceremony though. looked fun

SleepingLion · 16/02/2010 09:31

Poledra - she lives in Wolverhampton

springlamb · 16/02/2010 09:51

Pity about the medal ceremony, even more of a pity we didn't get to see the post-competition sauna.
I especially enjoyed the Nordic combined the other day too, that Frenchman who won was georgous.
I really should watch some of the women's events....

OrmRenewed · 16/02/2010 10:07

I think my posts would have consisted of nothing but 'FFS!' and , so I refrained. They don't deserve people like me being horrible.

JustAnotherManicMummy · 16/02/2010 10:25

Thank god you're back! I had to join Twitter. T'was awful. I managed to out myself and everything.

Thankfully Lenin held my hand and steered me through. Phew!

GypsyMoth · 16/02/2010 10:36

I can't believe what I had to resort to....... Had to go back for a look on 'second life'...never a good thing!

Slartybartfast · 16/02/2010 10:44

it was quite surreal
i was searching facebook for mnetters, but didnt want to appear as a stalker, so left it at that.
went to bed quite early
i was lost, i tell you, lost

ShowOfHands · 16/02/2010 10:49

Sporcle owns my soul.

And yes, I can name all of the states of America in about 2 minutes, but could I remember the last of the 7 dwarves. Could I bugger.

In case you're interested, his name's Bastard and I no longer care.

That was cruel. It physically hurt.

nickelbabe · 16/02/2010 10:50

do you realise that this thread will appear in the DM saying that MNers do nothing else with their spare time and "all MNers were up in arms because they couldn't log onto their favourite website"

and you know that they will mention the babyboom idea as if they'd thought of it.

ShowOfHands · 16/02/2010 10:51

I don't understand second life. I went on there once, made my mini me look like a cheap hooker, wandered round an island of billboards and gave up.
