Dear all,

We're looking for a couple more moderators. The current team do an amazing job and of course to some extent you are all moderators - plenty of you email us if you feel something is getting out of hand and for that we're very grateful - but we feel that given how busy the site now is, we need a few more official folks, with access to our direct contact details, watching over it.

Being a moderator requires a diplomacy and restraint, so if those aren't your strong points please do keep posting on Talk, but don't apply to be a moderator . Of course being around a lot also helps.

Moderators essentially have two roles. The first is to help out if queries (including media requests please) aren't answered by bumping and cajoling responses. The second is to attempt to (!) calm inflammatory situations, intervene where misunderstandings occur and keep mumsnet HQ informed (via email and tel if necessary) of anything that might warrant intervention.

It's a purely voluntary post (ie unpaid sadly) but you do get your pic on the mods page so it's not without glamour. If anyone would like to volunteer, please email [email protected].

Many thanks

The mumsnet team

purpleturtle · 09/07/2005 18:57

Surely it can be intellectual property though...

lou33 · 09/07/2005 18:58

you do realise that those successful applicants have to be jumped in like the girl gangs in the states?

can you stand the pain?

SenoraPostrophe · 09/07/2005 19:01

you can still claim if you can proove substantial similarity though

I should be making better use of my time shouldn't I?

WigWamBam · 09/07/2005 19:03

The real test would be whether we can stand the pain whilst still keeping up our diplomacy and restraint and without contravening the MN swearing policy, Lou!

lou33 · 09/07/2005 19:08

yes, you get the idea

plus you have to have the mn logo tattooed on your bum

hunkermunker · 09/07/2005 19:09

Lou, I already have that

lou33 · 09/07/2005 19:10

in which case you probably are at an advantage over the others

no need to show it off quite so much my dear

there's a good one in camberley i highly recommend, my mate has just given over £600 to them for a full back tattoo, which will take 11 trips to do

WigWamBam · 09/07/2005 19:13

I think we could probably suggest some suitable places, sobernow

RTKangaMummy · 09/07/2005 19:13

I have the whole website address on mine LOU cos mine is of such generous proportions

lou33 · 09/07/2005 19:14

WigWamBam · 09/07/2005 19:15

11 trips?

I think that would be taking allegience to MN a little too far ... I could probably cope with one that covered an entire buttock.

Or one entire boob, which in my case is nearly the same amount of skin.

RTKangaMummy · 09/07/2005 19:15

yes, sure can!!!!!!!!!!!!

lou33 · 09/07/2005 19:16

it will look great when it is done tho, he spotted the design when he took me to have mine done

lou33 · 09/07/2005 19:16

kanga

but what would we push for the search button?

WigWamBam · 09/07/2005 19:16

But 11 trips?

That's gotta hurt.

hunkermunker · 09/07/2005 19:17

PMSL Lou!

lou33 · 09/07/2005 19:18

it will cover his whole back, a japanese etching, all in black and white and shading

i am going to go with him and watch him cry and hold his hand while sniggering into my sleeve

RTKangaMummy · 09/07/2005 19:18

more of a twiddle than push
