It's lonely here with no-one to talk to, so I might get up to mischief !

OP posts:

i'm going to be properly pernickety and point out that when you hover your mouse over the 'add message' a little thing comes up that says 'add a message to this disscussion'

that extra 's' in discussion hurts me just a little bit

Jux · 02/11/2009 18:58

BigTech is a techie. That means such literate stuff is beneath his notice. He is on a higher level than such as we.

OliviaMumsnet · 02/11/2009 22:20

Maybe BigTech is expecting people to be dissing each other?

Will add to TOP of list for correction.

MamaG · 03/11/2009 07:56

I have a Q

Why does a poster's name float about in a blue box when you hover cursor over their name? Please disscuss

HelenMumsnet · 03/11/2009 10:42

MamaG, I think that's so you can see the whole name, if it's too long to display completely on the thread.

So, if you were to namechange to MamaGWonderingAboutTheBlueBox, your nickname would come up on threads as MamaGWonderingAb (or summat similar) but when you hovered over that, you'd be able to see MamaGWonderingAboutTheBlueBox.

Does that make (some kind of) sense?

MamaG · 03/11/2009 10:48

Yes it does. But perhaps shorter usernames wouldbe more sensible

franch · 03/11/2009 10:54

Someone's probably mentioned this but on the "Threads I'm watching" page, there is no longer a 'bump and reset' option. This means I only get a list of thread titles, and details of the most recent poster - rather than the first line of all the posts since I last clicked 'bump and reset'. So I can't see which threads have had new activity since I was last online.

Very frustrating and I'm mainly staying away till this is sorted ....

HelenMumsnet · 03/11/2009 10:59

franch: don't go! We do know about this one - and it's on BigTech's list to fix ASAP

franch · 03/11/2009 11:13

It's driving me mad Helen! And I really can't use the site properly! I'll keep checking back to see if it's sorted ....

Just noticed QueenThistle is supposedly the author of just about ALL the latest posts on the threads I'm watching - ?!

HelenMumsnet · 03/11/2009 12:00

Just checking, franch - you're using MN Classic, right?

SmallSCREAMCap · 03/11/2009 12:53

Just tried an advanced search on thread titles & when I click on the thread titles within the search results it takes me to the topic page filled with latest topics, rather than the threads themselves...

GunpowderTreasonAndDragons · 03/11/2009 12:58

I'm failing to see any positives of these changes

Crocky · 03/11/2009 13:00

I no longer seem to have a way of deleting any of the threads I am watching and all apart from one show the last poster to be Nahla although she is only the last poster on one of the threads.

NorbertDentressangle · 03/11/2009 13:03

Crocky -me too. Theres a few of us experiencing this (see thread in Site Stuff).

I've got over 50 threads in my watching list and I'm desperate to cull them.

Bramshott · 03/11/2009 13:09

Okay this is probably petty, but in the list of active convos, where you can see the last posters name, why are they all in lower case? We have some quite creative uses of upper/lower case in chat names here, so it's a shame not to be able to see them in the list of active convos.

franch · 03/11/2009 13:12

I was using 'Muted', Helen, but have switched to classic and the problem's still there. Most upsetting!

FreeTheGuidoOne · 03/11/2009 13:26

Oh yes Bramshott, I don't like that either. I purposefully use capitals in my name and don't like them being confiscated. I'd rather they introduced a naughty chair and stuck me on that.

FreeTheGuidoOne · 03/11/2009 13:27

I mean purposely obviously.

Am having an existential crisis today what with my capitals being confiscated so cruelly.

lilibet · 03/11/2009 13:41

I've had that problem with search too, it's driving me nuts

HelenMumsnet · 03/11/2009 15:29

OK, franch and others, Threads I'm watching should now have the Bump and reset option back.

BigTech has seen your complaints polite enquiries about Search and is on the case

Crocky · 03/11/2009 16:04

I have just clicked on bump and reset on one of the threads I am watching. Now the only post that didn't have Nahla as the last poster now shows Nahla as the last poster and all the other have Daf1Apeth?????

NorbertDentressangle · 03/11/2009 16:56

Yay! I can remove threads from my watch list but each thread on the list only shows the name date/time of the very last post (it used to show all the posts since it was last reset)

franch · 03/11/2009 18:37

Thanks Helen. Threads I'm Watching is far from back to normal though.

And threads are printing really badly ...

BigTech · 04/11/2009 14:14

Hi franch,

Please let me know what you think of Threads I'm Watching now...

BigTech · 04/11/2009 14:20

Hi Bramshott,

Please check the names in Active discussions, is this how you want to see them?
