Please do our swine flu vaccine survey (yes, another one)

Back in August, we asked if you'd have the swine flu vaccine if you were pregnant, and/or if you would have your children under five vaccinated.

Now the swine flu vaccine programme is being rolled out and, as predicted, pregnant women are one of the first groups to be offered the vaccine (at a later date it may also be offered to children under five).

So we want to find out if your thoughts about having the jab have changed since we last asked you.

Please can you complete this short, four-question survey. Everyone who does will be entered into this month's competitions.

Thanks v much
MNHQ

Completed.

Neither of the DCs has been diagnosed with swine flu, but I very strongly suspect that they both had it in the summer.

There wasn't a way of saying that on the survey, but it may have influenced my decision.

Done, but I have 3 dcs and I have different thoughts about vaccination for them. DS is 2.6 and has had hospital admissions with wheezy chest etc - I think I want him to have it, but not so sure about healthy dds aged 4 and 6.

Wish I could have given more feedback. Ds3 was diagnosed with swine flu with complications in the summer. It was a bonkers diagnosis, he had a cold, temp, snotty nose, cough and is inclined to sound a bit wheezy when he is poorly. Fortunately, I could talk to a human being (nhs direct gp) via our doctors out of hours service who agreed that website was talking sh*te.

Given that ds3 has NOT had swine flu, I would let him have vaccine because his big brother is at at school which has had confirmed swine flu cases before and since the summer hols and it makes me nervous...

mosschops30 · 29/10/2009 15:01

I have done it but as usual no place to say am currently pregnant and have other children, and also no space to say possible swine flu, as they no longer confirm a diagnosis, so impossible to say in most cases

ProfessorLaytonIsMyZombieSlave · 29/10/2009 16:42

mosschops -- surely you say you are currently pregnant by answering the IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY PREGNANT question, that you have children under five by answering the IF YOU HAVE A CHILD AGED UNDER 5 question, and go into more detail about your existing children by answering Q4?

Done - I REALLY want more information on the safety of the vaccine. I have an asthmatic 4 yo and a 3mo so in vaccinating the older one I may offer some protection to the younger one as well by default - but it's such a dilemma. I think the media are awful at whipping up a stir and it would be great if mumsnet could get us some clear unbiased views from people who are qualified to give their opinions. It might help make an informed decision as even my GP is not sure on the vaccine. How can I feel confident when they are not.
