Calling those of you who did our pregnancy survey.......

Those of you who did our pregnancy survey may have noticed that it wasn't the clearest of surveys we've ever done.

We're looking at the results and we think there are a few anomalies.

We'd be grateful if those of you who've completed it can give us some clarification as to how you interpreted a coupla the questions:

Specifically Q4 Did you: -

(a) Get drunk before you knew you were pregnant
Yes/No/Don't know
(b) Get drunk whilst you were pregnant, knowing you were pregnant
Yes/No/Don't know
(c) Get pregnant whilst drunk!
Yes/No/Don't know

We think that some people may have read part (a) as:
Did you get drunk (ever in your carefree prechildren life) before you were pregnant?
Rather than:
Did you get drunk whilst you were pregnant before you knew you were pregnant?

There is also a similar doubt on Q6 which was about illegal drugs.

Please can you post on on this thread if that was how you read this on Q4 and Q6.

I'm with nearly everyone else. I took it to mean "did you get drunk in between That Shag and The Blue Line".

"whilst you were pregnant before you knew you were pregnant" here too

I thought it meant pregnant but not knowing you were yet. For me that meant more in the weeks after ovulation.

I understood the drunk question.

"Have you never taken illegal drugs" I had no idea on this one.
No I have never taken illegal drugs.
Yes I have never taken illegal drugs.

Wasn't there also a third confusing option I don't know if I've never taken illegal drugs. How can you not know?!

The drinking one was clear, it was the one about drugs that confused me. I can't remember if I answered yes or no to the final one - and I'm still not sure what my answer should be, but I did not take any illegal drugs whilst pregnant (or before or after officer!) so should I have said yes I did not or no I did not?

I read it as did you get drunk whilst preg but before you knew you were preg.

Why did you feel there was confusion, did an astounding number of people answer yes?

I understood

I read it as
"did you get drunk whilst pregnant but before you know you were pregnant"

but then my friends say that if I get drunk I must be pregnant...

i read it as did you drink/drugs whilst pregnant bit before you knew.

I read it as in between conception and the positive test. And yes I did get drunk, because I didn't realise I was, and wasn't expecting to be pregnant.

The drugs one I read the same, but as I have never taken drugs, it didn't really apply to me.

I read it as did I get drunk/take illegal drugs when I was pregnant but before I knew I was.

It was the third option on drugs that was confusing as you used a double negative.

I understood but thought it a bit of an odd range of choices. For example, I drank alcohol but did not get drunk whilst pregnany but before knowing I was pregnant.

I read it as you intended I think.

I did down a cocktail or three at a work do after trying for the first time . Had no idea I could have been so lucky as to have got up the duff first try.

I think I was tempting fate, and felt TERRIBLE once I found out.

Also interpreted the drugs question the same.

Between conception and the pos test.

No, I read it as i did get drunk whilst pg but before I knew

and no did not do any illegal drugs before or since

I read it as getting drunk before I knew I was preggers.

i read 4 and 6 as did you do it when pregnant but before you knew you were pregnant.
