Calling those of you who did our pregnancy survey.......

Hello
Those of you who did our pregnancy survey may have noticed that it wasn't the clearest of surveys we've ever done.

We're looking at the results and we think there are a few anomalies.

We'd be grateful if those of you who've completed it can give us some clarification as to how you interpreted a coupla the questions:

Specifically Q4 Did you: -

(a) Get drunk before you knew you were pregnant
Yes/No/Don't know
(b) Get drunk whilst you were pregnant, knowing you were pregnant
Yes/No/Don't know
(c) Get pregnant whilst drunk!
Yes/No/Don't know

We think that some people may have read part (a) as:
Did you get drunk (ever in your carefree prechildren life) before you were pregnant?
Rather than:
Did you get drunk whilst you were pregnant before you knew you were pregnant?

There is also a similar doubt on Q6 which was about illegal drugs.

Please can you post on on this thread if that was how you read this on Q4 and Q6.

TIA and again, sorry for confusion
MN Towers

I did the survey and read as the second... interpreted as did you get drunk/do drugs whilst you were on the 2ww (to use TTC chat).

4andnotout · 15/08/2009 22:27

I read it as
"did you get drunk whilst pregnant but before you know you were pregnant"

not "are you or have you been a lairy lush"

beanieb · 15/08/2009 22:28

Can we deduce from this then that a HUGE percentage of those who filled it in said 'yes' then?

NonGratisAnusDailyMail · 15/08/2009 22:29

I read both as "whilst you were pregnant before you knew you were pregnant".

UndertheBoredwalk · 15/08/2009 22:29

Also interpreted it as did you get drunk while pregnant but before you knew.
Made complete sense to me

YanknCock · 15/08/2009 22:29

I read it as 'did you get drunk whilst pregnant before you knew you were pregnant' and same for q6.

Fimbo · 15/08/2009 22:29

I think 4andnotout has summed my answer up perfectly

I also read it as 'did you get drunk whilst pregnant but before you knew you were'

Aranea · 15/08/2009 22:32

me too. it seemed perfectly clear to me.

poorbuthappy · 15/08/2009 22:32

As above...

moaningminniewhingesagain · 15/08/2009 22:32

Seems to be a consensus, we all knew what you meant, I think

fruitstick · 15/08/2009 22:33

I understood it as drunk before you found out that you were pregnant.

Howeeve I don't think it was the best worded survey, as it wasn't clear whether we should tick one or several options for quite a few of the questions (Q3 in particular)

NorkilyChallenged · 15/08/2009 22:34

Um. Nope, I didn't get it right Off to find my dunce's cap...

Whilst pg but before knowing.

Stinkyfeet · 15/08/2009 22:37

I also read it as "Did you get drunk whilst you were pregnant before you knew you were pregnant?"

MrsWeasley · 15/08/2009 22:39

I read it as "Get drunk before you knew you were pregnant" meaning being pregnant and not knowing it, did you get drunk?

Flamesparrow · 15/08/2009 22:43

That bit made sense. It was another bit with yes/no to having done drugs etc (something like "have you never taken illegal drugs" where yes OR no could be the right answer).

Still ashamed that I had to answer C for the drinking question though

IdrisTheDragon · 15/08/2009 22:43

I took it to mean get drunk whilst pregnant, but not knowing you were.

Possibly lots of us got drunk in very early pregnancy?

TimothyTigerTuppennyTail · 15/08/2009 22:44

I answered it as 'being pregnant and not knowing', not 'ever in your life'.

I don't think I'd have answered it if I'd interpreted it the other way.

sherby · 15/08/2009 22:45

Whilst preg but not knowing I thought
