How will the proposed private rooms work?

In the light of the DM stuff, I imagine MNHQ will be looking to get the private rooms sorted out quickly. So I wondered how they would run? Will it be a case of a single user opening a room and then inviting people to join them? Or will it be possible to request an invite?

How will you avoid narnia type incidents?

No, I agree with battlehips, that was well out of order. It may be water under the bridge, but it ain't going to stay that way if people who were at the heart of it start taking the piss out of other people's upset.

Unfortunately, I think it shows just how playgroundy the 'rooms' might get.

It would only degenerate Moldies-style if you could set up a room any time you like for whatever purpose and with whatever entry criteria you wanted.
I think MN Towers need to keep some control of it, so that rooms are limited and admission is transparent.

Starting a room should be more like starting a topic than starting a thread. And you should absolutely not be able to have a room for you and your mates, but for 'any MNer who has an SN child/works in a particular field/has recently lost a partner' etc.
