Roll up, roll up - new categories and topics

JustineMumsnet · 11/08/2009 14:37

Due to a heady concoction of popular demand, some oversized topics and a few diplomatic incidents we are creating 2 new categories on Talk:
First Products which will have the following topics:
Baby Monitors
Breastpumps
Changing bags
Clothes and shoes
Cots and beds
DVDs
Highchairs and baby seats
Household goods
Nappies
Other
Pushchairs
Slings and backpacks
Toys and games
Video games

(nb these topics are strictly for chatting about products rather than selling them - you need to use For sale if you want to sell)

and a Legal and money category with the following topics:
Credit crunch
Investments
Legal matters
Money matters
Promotional codes and vouchers

We hope that works for all - sorry to nappies folks for shunting you around again - hope this makes sense.

Please address all observations/problems/complaints to [email protected]

norktasticninja · 11/08/2009 15:00

Sounds great, good move! What about Car seats? Do they go in with highchairs?

JustineMumsnet · 11/08/2009 15:05

Oh yes norktasticninja - car seats! We'll add straight way - txs

LIZS · 11/08/2009 17:02

Can I suggest you put a note re Selling etc as per the Nappies on the other sections within Products.

RustyBear · 11/08/2009 17:06

Does Gerry actually have 'scapegoat' in her job description?

whomovedmychocolate · 11/08/2009 17:32

Umm where is bumsex?

Itsjustafleshwound · 11/08/2009 17:50

PLEASE could we have a general topic for 'Other Websites'

JustineMumsnet · 11/08/2009 17:59

What you mean like a Netmums topic? Ahem, well it's one to think about .

OP posts:
LIZS · 11/08/2009 18:12

Well there is another obvious one but I'm not going to be the one to mention it !

Do you have to opt into the new ones as they aren't appearing on Active as far as I can see. Can the existing threads move across too, such as previous Legal/Money into the new category

HelenMumsnet · 11/08/2009 18:19

They are appearing in Active Convos, LizS - there's one there now.

And, yes, we will be moving threads across. We're having a little technical difficulty doing that at the moment - but we're on the case.

ilovemydogandmrobama · 11/08/2009 18:53

Oh for goodness sake, credit crunch

Even the Governor of the Bank of England is referring to the current economic climate as recession

First Products - 12 months in - the crap I was suckered into buying now filling the garage category is missing

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 11/08/2009 20:56

Can we have a Christmas topic please?

Then I can opt out of it and not give the subject another thought until November at least!

whomovedmychocolate · 11/08/2009 22:33

TheProfiteroleThief - I think we could cover all that with a 'generale shite' topic except the last one and I thought that was covered by 'book club'

SolidGoldBrass · 11/08/2009 22:38

I was going to be all feisty and suggest a Sex topic and maybe a morris dancing topic but actually I do rather wonder about maybe a Help for Domestic Violence section? Or would that be offputting to the people experiencing it who currently post in relationships to ask if what's happening to them is actually OK or not.

EccentricaGallumbits · 11/08/2009 22:39

What about the Indigo topic? Where's that?

whomovedmychocolate · 11/08/2009 22:46

Where's the topic for 'interesting medical emergencies which are quite TMI but will make WMMC snort coffee out of her left nostril?'

poopscoop · 11/08/2009 22:51

Can we have a 'Ranters Corner' ? where we can explode any old stuff that needs to get out? Then calm can be restored to said individual.

OnlyWantsOne · 11/08/2009 23:03

^^ what poopscoop said
