Our next book, Pregnancy: The Mumsnet Guide, will be rolling off the presses and into bookshops in September.

So to tie in with this, we're doing a short survey about pregnancy.

More specifically, the stuff you are/aren't meant to do. Yep, we're talking drink, drugs and hard-core runny cheeses.

Complete the survey and your name will go into a draw for two lovely prizes, courtesy of Luxury Family Hotels and Child-Friendly Cottages.

TIA for taking part.

Yes, I've had around one unit per month but still had to tick the occasional drinkers and 1-3 units/week box.

sockmonkey · 11/08/2009 10:06

Done.... crosses fingers

WriggleJiggle · 11/08/2009 12:53

Done.
Got a little confused on those negative questions though.

Dozymare · 11/08/2009 15:30

done - fingers crossed, we need some luck

Cicatrice · 11/08/2009 20:49

Done.

But my occasional drink was really occasional and less than 1-3 units per week. Maybe 2 units (largish glass of wine) per month.

I think I drank 1-3 units total for the entire pregancy. There should definitely be a box for "less than 1 per week".

Also one question - the one about gardening and saunas etc - I skipped completely. I didn't actually do ANY of those things during pregnancy, but it was because the opportunity did not arise, not because I consciously chose not to.

Am another person who answered Yes, I didn't drink, smoke or take drugs!

Done...

Hinagiku · 12/08/2009 15:12

Don't know how to fill this in. I smoked one spliff on two occasions. Do I put occassionally or never. Is never a lie, am I in denial. But saying occassionally sounds too regular? Mmm

Theteathings · 12/08/2009 17:43

Lots of things on that list I wouldn't dream of consuming even when not pg!

thaliablogs · 13/08/2009 21:28

I don't think it's a very well constructed survey as mixes up bits of advice which are right (raw eggs) with bits that are unclear (peanuts) with bits that are nonsense (raw fish is fine if it has been frozen, paracetamol is fine, etc.).

Also, last question on the drug/alcohol bits was confusingly worded - were we supposed to say 'no' or 'yes' to the last question in each section which started with a negative.

Poor show mumsnet towers!

JustineMumsnet · 14/08/2009 15:20

Yes apologies - it wasn't the clearest survey we've ever done was it? We'll try harder next time honest!

me23 · 14/08/2009 20:14

there also wasn't an option to say you gave up smoking during pregnancy, eg I did smoke while I was pregnant BUT I gave up so didn't smoke throughout pregnancy.

Slickbird · 14/08/2009 22:08

I agree with some of the others - I drank VERY occasionally, and it was in no way 1-3 units a week so feel that didn't really represent me. Maybe three glasses in the whole 9 months? (with all three pregnancies).

Anyway,

Done.

LovingtheSilverFox · 14/08/2009 22:23

Done . Could do with a holiday!

tatt · 15/08/2009 09:02

think more of the questions should have allowed for "once you knew you were pregnant did you" ... not everyone knows immediately. But if you drank or smoked before you knew you were pregnant and not afterwards you have to answer yes.

Biglips · 15/08/2009 16:03

Anyone care to chance a guess at what the survey will reveal?

I'd say 'we eat/drink a small amount of things we shouldn't but are generally cautious and feel that the advice isn't great'. Expressed with a bit more pizazz than that!

BitOfFun · 15/08/2009 22:42

I must admit I think that the concept of "regularly" and "occasionally" confused me, and I may have contradicted myself...to illustrate, my mum claims to smoke regularly, because she has a cigar every christmas, IYSWIM.
