We don't need all of these bloody sections. It worked fine as it was.
My concern is that people will miss valuable information.

I think they were asked for though.

thisisyesterday · 08/07/2009 19:01

i agree that there are way too many topics. not particularly noticed anything about special needs though.

but in general yes, far too many.

lljkk · 08/07/2009 19:01

Why is SN the worst offender? I quite like being able to block it out completely.

2shoes · 08/07/2009 19:01

ok so you don't want me to have somewhere to post about my teen dd(sn)

moondog · 08/07/2009 19:01

I just find that I can be less and less bothered to trawl through countless sections.

nickytwotimes · 08/07/2009 19:02

Why is SN so bad?
There are a lot of topics, but it doesn't bother me. I only look at Active Convos and Threads I am On.

Northernlurker · 08/07/2009 19:04

I think it's a bit unfair to pick on SN tbh. Look at 'Travel' - did we ever really need a section for sking and cruises as well as shorthaul and longhaul

Northernlurker thank you

2shoes · 08/07/2009 19:06

lol Km

PeachyTheRiverParrettHarlot · 08/07/2009 19:07

SN came about after lots of discussion with all the regul;ars, and was modified again afterwards

I do tend not to go outside the children bit though unless it flags up on my active convo's

It was too afst moving with so many people for everyone to be able to keep up, and people with teens etc ewre 'homeless'

nickytwotimes · 08/07/2009 19:07

...or the horses.

tbh it seems that people can say what they like about sn on mn. but I am suprised at the op as sh eknows that parents of sn need support.

LyraSilvertongue · 08/07/2009 19:12

What's the point of MumsNOT? It's only got three threads in it.

Lulumama · 08/07/2009 19:12

i think the whole point of the sub sections was that people were not getting the info, especially more specialised or niche info

but you can hide threads and topics i thought?

Lulumama · 08/07/2009 19:13

Mumsnot is bizarre

don't thikn MN should try to be everything to everybody

lou33 · 08/07/2009 19:13

i'm with km on this

nickytwotimes · 08/07/2009 19:13

I still want to know what the problem is with SN? Surely that is one of the more important/worthwhile topic areas?

2shoes · 08/07/2009 19:14

mum snot what is that about?

HecatesTwopenceworth · 08/07/2009 19:14

I didn't read it as saying the sn section was bad, but the way it has been split into so many sub-sections and that it would be easier to have just the one. I didn't read anything about getting rid of the sn section.

MN has too many sections, it's true! It is damn near impossible to find the 'right' place to post anything!

2shoes · 08/07/2009 19:15

nickytwotimes I doubt very much that the op has a problem with the sn topic, she is a helpful poster and much loved on there, just a bad example to use imo

silverfrog · 08/07/2009 19:16

the SN section was changed after requests from parents of sn children (and teens especially).

they were the ones who said it wasn't working before (all parents, not just parents of teens), and so it has been changed ot make it easier for them.

I know you post a lot with very valuable advice, moondog, but i think the wishes of the parents who are looking for advice are more important. this is sounding really abrupt, and I do not mean to be (but am singing nursery rhymes with dd1 at the same time as typing, so am prob typing gibberish tbh)

LyraSilvertongue · 08/07/2009 19:16

Health has also recently been split into many subsections hasn't it? It used to be under body and soul.

TheFool · 08/07/2009 19:16

she never said SN was shite!

She said there were too many sections and people will get lost in it.

Why is it that you can say that about any other section, but dare to utter anything about SN not being perfect and it is suddenly taken as picking on SN?
