unused nicknames

is there any way of getting a unused nickname?
I have always wanted to be twoshoes, but someone has it, but never uses it.
could there be a swap or a way we could give up the ones we don't uses?

Will MN take it away from someone who used it once in 2005 and obviously doesn't love it like I do?

I am still here thank you I have been for six years, I named changed to trillian to post some very personal stuff, I use that name on other unrelated sights. I set it up from a very old email that I no longer use as I wanted it to be kept separate from my mumsnet known self.

If you looked up the post you would see why I name changed.

There's really no need to be harsh and claim I am 'moaning'. If you look at this thread you will see it is all about people wanting names that are already taken in some manner.

If your account is currently active then it won't be auctioned anyway, I was just wondering if it would be allowed to be used if it was used only the once by someone who then left MN forever.

Are you ever planning on using it again? If you want the incident in question to be completely separate from your current name (since you don't post under 'TheOriginalTrillian' either) then is there a particular reason why you want to keep it?

No worries, as I said I only wanted the name if it was unused and unwanted.

As I said before I am sorry if I came across as harsh it is just this was my name at a very hard time for me and I kind of hid it deep.

At least we both have good taste.

TrillianAstra - I think that the set up is that names will never be given away if they have any posts under it as it would either mean deleting posts (which seems wrong), or someone else's words becoming yours iyswim.

Yeah Flame, I figured it would be no-posts names only, which was why I was asking regarding what I thought was a 'joined, posted on one thread, left forever' situation.

But it's not like that anyway. We do both have very good taste, although you, Mrs Original Trillian, must have another name that you use nrmally, so you have a better imagination than me cos this was the only good thing I could think of

Ooh I'd be up for this. The first 3 names I tried when I joined were already taken. I've just looked now and 1 was used once, 1 twice in 2001 and one 7 times in 2004. I would have loved one of those....

I've never found a name that I think 'fits' me on here. Originally I was MamaD and whilst that felt ok I didnt want to put MamaG's nose out of joint (she was here first!). I've changed a couple of times but still think if I could get the name I 'really' wanted I would feel more at ease (it's a name I've been using on a games forum since 1998)
