There never seem to be any unanswered threads to answer any more - is this a feature of the new MN?

I occasionally (once or twice a week) pop into unanswered threads to see if I can help.

I never bump them but try to help when I can but they seem to have disappeared - where have they gone?

they are there! and waiting for your answers

KarlWrenbury · 02/02/2009 20:17

its puzzlerocks
its all she does

MaureenMLove · 02/02/2009 20:17

Well, there's 11 on there now!

ladycornyofsilke · 02/02/2009 20:18

I so wanted this thread to be unanswered!

KatyMac · 02/02/2009 20:29

Normally there is 40 or 50

I can do maybe 2 or 3

There is rarely more than 10 now & the odds are that I don't know any answers

perhaps its since the new styleee of MN? People may have been put off posting. I am still trying to get my head round it, and that is even with classic view thingy. I really dont like it, all these teeny tiny topic names and a fair few other bits i am not sure about.

scrooged · 02/02/2009 20:45

They are only there for 1 day, maybe the old style left them there for a few days?

is it not that Puzzlerocks regularly goes in and bumps lots of the unanswered threads?

KatyMac · 02/02/2009 20:59

Does she answer them?

Or just bump them? 'cos bumping without answering doesn't always help much

southeastastra · 02/02/2009 21:00

she is pg so probably bored

KatyMac · 02/02/2009 21:01

Maybe I'm grumpy because I hurt

I am in 2 minds about bumping unanswered threads... (note that I am not criticising I am saying I am in 2 minds)

On one hand I think if they are bumped they may get noticed by someone who knows the answer...on the other hand they disappear from unansered threads...so may not be seen by the other kind people who do check unanswered threads and might know the answer...

southeastastra · 02/02/2009 21:04

i do usually scan unanswered and answer if i can

Hulababy · 02/02/2009 21:04

Have they taken for sale/classifieds out of Unanswered/ That might be why there has been a drop perhaps?

SlightlyMadScotland · 02/02/2009 21:04

Is it you with teh UTI Katy?? If so you should allow 48hrs for ABs.

KatyMac · 02/02/2009 21:06

No I have a UTI & kidney stones (or maybe gallstones.....and actually my appendix was mentioned as well )

SlightlyMadScotland · 02/02/2009 21:07

Oh dear....you are not having much luck with your body ATM are you?

KatyMac · 02/02/2009 21:11

2nd lots of AB - first didn't work (& would never have worked according to 3 GP's)

Can I trade it in for a new body? Do you think I'd get much trade in or would it have to be '£1000 for your old one in any condition' deals

We don't think it's a glitch.
It could indeed be that puzzlerocks' bumping may be preventing threads from showing up as unanswered.
HTH

KnickKnack · 02/02/2009 21:11

i agree with SmS and the 2 minds, whilst its great to have them back in active convos for a while, I find I'm not bothering to check unanswered as much as I used to (as its much less likely there will be something there I can answer)

on the whole though I think its really sweet of PR

ChasingSquirrels · 02/02/2009 21:13

just bumps them.
I'm not in 2 minds, I think if you want it bumping then you do it yourself, and that leaving it unanswered leaves it un unanswered threads for someone to come along with relevant info/knowledge etc.
But having seen a couple of threads saying thank you for doing it (and posteded negatively on one) I assumed I was in a minority, so I ignoring it.
Still try and do unanswered threads if I can.

southeastastra · 02/02/2009 21:14

agree with you squirrels

SlightlyMadScotland · 02/02/2009 21:16

I agree it is a sweet gesture...but maybe of limited (possibly negative in some cases?) value

SoMuchToBits · 02/02/2009 21:19

I don't know,it can work both ways. I have at least once answered a thread after PR had bumped it. If she hadn't have bumped it, it would have fallen off the bottom of active convos and I wouldn't have seen it.
