I think it looks good.

I don't mind it at home, but at work when i have to have the window reduced in size, it is a pain to have to scroll from side to side.

Also i'd prefer to see the whole titles on active convos so it's easier to avoid certain threads.

lessonlearned · 30/01/2009 23:57

Rusty, You are currently my favourite saviour of all time! Thank you so much. I'm one of the people who have been on several threads all night and been feeling sick scrolling along every line - was about to flounce too!!!

RustyBear · 31/01/2009 00:00

The 'Show All' link I mentioned was to get all the topics to show on the Topic page - not anything to do with pixel's problem. The blue bat is just above the list of topics & has Talk Topics in white at the left hand end and a link to Show all in a sort of blue-grey colour on the right.

The only thing I can think of to solve the scrolling problem is to reduce the text size by zooming (ctrl&scroll wheel, or ctrl&-) but that may make it too small to read.

Pixel · 31/01/2009 00:07

I've tried setting the text size to 'smallest' but it hasn't solved the problem, just made every other site I want to go on too small to read.
I've never shouted on MN before, or sworn or got in an arguement but this is really starting to upset me. The last thing I want to do is leave but I can't see that I'm going to have much choice if I can't put things back to 'normal' .

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 31/01/2009 00:16

Oh my God, does it have a spell checker in the message box before you post, brilliant!!
Clever clever Mumsnet! (except that Mumsnet shows as a spelling error in mine!)

dragonbutter · 31/01/2009 00:28

Ha,

OP here.

i was on classic mumsnet anyway, i just like the smaller font. anyway, i'm sticking with classic now.

sorry.

daysoftheweek · 31/01/2009 01:19

I don't like it (but I didn't like it the last time and I am mega change resistant!!)

But judging by the way it's suddenly all about the products I'm guessing it's the heavy hand of commercialism

If I can get classic will it go back to the way it was? (please)

The message last night when they were uploading it was seriously unpleasant and gave me the creeps

I don't like not being able to see all the thread titles under topics

All the white space does look clean though

CuddlyKelpie · 31/01/2009 02:20

I like it but as I said, a more bold use of bold would really cinch it form me.

Progress is generally, a good thing.

Wolfcub · 31/01/2009 04:14

I like it it looks much better on the iPod than before

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 31/01/2009 06:09

Perhaps it will make the papers, like when facebook changed.

Watusi · 31/01/2009 07:22

Loving it totally, it's beautiful and calming. Although I couldn't stick the un-classic format I'm afraid, so am back on the older one.

TeenyTinyToria · 31/01/2009 08:32

I really need it to be darker, and then I can cope with it. It's very pale and there are acres of white space with these new margins, which means I can't stay on it for more than fifteen minutes or so.

tattycoram · 31/01/2009 08:42

I really like it now I've got used to it. The text in each post was all bunched up at first but now I've un-bunched it I think it looks good and the site as a whole is far more navigable

RustyBear · 31/01/2009 10:38

Pixel - are you on IE or Firefox? (or something else?)

SueW · 31/01/2009 11:43

It all still looks bunched up to me when I read a thread like this although the Active Convos page looks nice and clean.

And the end disappears off to the RHS if I have my bookmarks.

I use Firefox.

TBH I'm too short of time to learn how to fix it so my mumsnetting has been pretty much non-existent over the past couple of days and is likely to remain so for a while now I can't quickly see what I want, iyswim.

blinks · 31/01/2009 11:51

it's crap

MaureenMLove · 31/01/2009 11:58

I think its fine. I'd like to hide some topics though and I don't seem to be able to. I'm sure its been discussed and a solution found, but I'm damned if I can find it!

ssd · 31/01/2009 12:00

I don't like it, don't see the need to change something that works

why can't I read a line of text without having to use my horizontal scroll bar to read whats at the end? dead annoying

I think if you're great with a pc you could tweak about and get the new MN just right, but lots of us are crap on the pc and are struggling

ssd · 31/01/2009 12:01

same here maureen

mrsmaidamess · 31/01/2009 12:04

I don't like it.

I don't like the fact I can't see what topic each thread in from in active convo's without getting my magnifying glass out. Too titchy!

It looks harder to navigate round to me too. But then I hate change in any form.

apart from the truncated thread titles (which is being resolved I beleive) I have embraced the new

paddingtonbear1 · 31/01/2009 12:14

The main thing I don't like now is the truncated thread titles.
Oh, and when the ads are on the right hand side I sometimes get a big space, and have to scroll down to see the messages!
Other than that, I'm getting used to it.

RustyBear · 31/01/2009 12:21

paddington - try f5, or Shift+f5, or possibly ctrl+f5 - it may sort your intrusive ad problem

BlackEyedDogstar · 31/01/2009 12:29

the whiteness is burning my eyeballs

It's a smart design I think. I'm terrible with change I've realised
