the new site is giving me a headache.
have to scroll down to read posts because of adverts which take up the whole screen (lengthwise).
and, have lost all my "threads I'm watching"

oh dear, but maybe this is a good thing as I spend far too much time on Mumsnet anyway.

Bye for now. will miss you all.

oh for crying out loud. Are you not even going to give them a chance to fix the faults (they are working on it you know?)

You'e tried it (with bugs!!!) for less than a day and you're giving up

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 30/01/2009 19:12

I was wondering about the watching threads. Thought I had deleted them by mistake.

brimfull · 30/01/2009 19:12

if you switch to new mumsnet you don't have the problem with the looooong ad

piscesmoon · 30/01/2009 19:12

I don't know why you have to meddle with something that worked perfectly well!

FAQtothefuture · 30/01/2009 19:13

what's hard about it

Active convos/last 15 minutes/last hour - all up ^^ where they used to be.

Add message box where it always was, same topics,..........ermm what am I missing??

Can't you turn the ads off? I never see them. Can't remember what I did to get rid of them though.

duckyfuzz · 30/01/2009 19:15

its really not that complicated, just different - embrace change, change is good

Have you switched to mumsnet new yet? It does sort the scrolling.

Northernlurker · 30/01/2009 19:16

FAQ -I like to think of myself as a fairly flexible sort of person - and I absolutely hate the new layout - I'm finding it harder to navigate and scan to se whats there and it just feels strange and wrong. I'm noy going anywhere - but I don't blame people who do.

pamplemousse · 30/01/2009 19:16

Thats very dramatic!
Just press shift and refresh and that silly long advert just disappears, MN suggest it and it works!

I asked and it appeared, they have been working hard all day.

FAQtothefuture · 30/01/2009 19:20

my threads were purple when I came back from my new house this afternoon - got it set on Mumsnet new and I've got lovely purple links for threads I've got it all set to Mumsnet new

Dont' know if it's working for anyone else though

traceybath · 30/01/2009 19:20

blimey - its hardly any different.

When i worked on website re-designs they became radically different - these are just subtle enhancements.

All sites have to evolve or they end up looking and feeling incredibly dated.

Comments like the OP's make me so glad i'm not a website project manager any more.

SaintGeorge · 30/01/2009 19:21

Very pleased for all of you who like it and find it easy to read and use.

Can you not understand though that it is not the same for everyone?

If the layout and/or colour scheme of a website gives me a migraine, I don't use the website, simple innit?

So until the layout and/or colour scheme improves I won't be using MN.

And no I am not flouncing, I am having a break but I do understand why some people don't like it. I don't come here to get a headache, I don't suppose they do either.

onager · 30/01/2009 19:22

You do realise that you're not all seeing the same layout?

It is quite different according to browser and various settings.

For example I have none of the margins you speak of or the advert problems. I just have font size 6 on a white background which makes it too hard to look at for more than a few mins.

I used to be able to change the font size using the mouse scroll wheel.

FAQtothefuture · 30/01/2009 19:22

ooo yes Traceybath - like when Perfect Pizza revamped their website and totally and utterly confused me.

The "menu" bit still throws me as it's a totally new way of ordering from there.

Not like this where it's essentiall y the same.

I think it might be having a similar effect to those little boxes you get to write posts in on ebay

I mean you do still have to write in a box but before, it was like the page was bigger, now it feels restrictive - almost like when you are staying with friends and you sit tidily and don't leave crumbs on the sofa. It's more self conscious making for some reason.
The active convos list is super long to scroll down instead of half of it being visible immeidately (squashed I know! But it facilitated the fast movement of the site. Before I'd post a new thread and it'd be halfway down the page before I even clicked back to A/C. This morning it was still at the top.

I guess everyone was still getting used ot the format but it feels empty and lonely somehow.

I'm giving it plenty more chances though, I think it's a bit soon to give up and besides I have to hang around somewhere, it's this or Tesco direct, what would you choose?
