We the undersigned, undervalued, neglected, disenfranchised are humbly asking that as you have overseas advertisers that you begin some comps for us far flung devotees to MN.

in other words.

WE WANT COMPS!

Mmmm... interesting Sputnik!

  • sorry I haven't been around on mn very long and I think I might have put 2 and 2 together and got 5.

You are right - I noticed an anti-nestle thread a few days ago... and I am sure that is the norm not the exception!

SORRY - I suppose I got carried away.

You see given what has been said here and that the foocs are mainly expats - it kinda made sense to me why when someone pressed the red button to report "this is interesting" and I invited a few MNHQ workers to join the foocs it was ignored...

But maybe, come to think of it, it is more likely to be because I really do write a lot of twaddle on the foocs thread!!!! Ha ha ha!!!! And it must be ever so hard to spot everyone-elses super posts because there are so many of my "lar-di-da lar-di-dar" post!!!!

What I'd hate to think is it is because the foocs posts (not my lar-di-dar ones of course I mean the really good posts) aren't considered good enough to mention in reports back - because some of them are really so so very touching! Honestly I find some of them completly breath-taking!

With that Teafortwo catches the metro! And SERIOUSLY promises not to mention the foocs anywhere but on the foocs thread ever ever again!!!!

Sputnik · 21/10/2008 13:47

Ahhh. Well the little red button doesn't mean "this is interesting"
It means you're reporting that thread for breaking MN rules, see here, under netiquette.

Which is maybe where you went wrong

I like the FOOC threads btw

teafortwo · 21/10/2008 14:03

oh - ok! Well that explains it then - I remembered someone doing something to tell mn about our thread... was it the red button they pressed or somethingelse....???

I will look back through not this thread, but the last one as it was done quite early on and see what she (I think it was a she) did! I can't even remember who it was

Yeah - I love the foocs too and I suppose I was looking for a logical reason why such fantastic writing has never been for example quote of the week or in the roundup or as one fooc suggested on a few occasions given a little slot the e-mail everyone gets.

But mn is like life. Never simple and not always logical and I suppose we love it for that. I would find great comfort in the reason being commercial (in times like these everyone has to be careful about the cash coming in) that is why I thought 'ahhh haaa!'that is why - hurray - now I see the light! But maybe I haven't

DD has woken up so teafortwo exists mn life and returns to real life - quick lets get to the metro dd - bookshops and coffee shops are calling us!!!!

MwaHaHaMhamai · 21/10/2008 18:11

Thanks MNHQ

teafortwo · 21/10/2008 20:46

Sputnik... I just read the thread about the miscarriage article in the times. Why don't foocs get mentioned? - Simple answer - mn has bigger fish to fry. I much prefer to think of mn being too busy seriously campaigning for womans rights than ignoring us for commercial reasons - and tbh - I bet that is the truth!

T42 calls goodbye to all and goes off to enter a few competitions!!!! He he he!!!!

ghosty · 22/10/2008 12:44

Thanks for all support everyone ... jolly good show, any more sign ups to the petition gratefully accepted.

PSSST ... Teafortwo ... you've lost me Confused.
We all love the FOOCs ... everyone knows about them ... I'm not sure what you are getting at [thick]

teafortwo · 22/10/2008 19:23

Hi Ghosty!!!!

Yeah - I didn't understand half my posts either and it was me who was posting them!!!!

Ha ha ha!!!!

First I thought that perhaps there was a link between no comps and the fact the foocs have never been a hot topic thread, quote of the week... etc...etc - ie we don't make £££ sense so we are left alone cold and sad - No comps and we don't have our threads mentioned. - But I thought this when I was feeling a bit grumpy and downbeat!

Then I felt quite upbeat and jolly - and decided MN is really so busy being nice and supportive to women and children that they just don't have time to read the foocs!!!

I really like mn so I prefer my second theory!!!

Hope you are feeling less confused now!!!

ghosty · 22/10/2008 21:36

LOL ... if it helps, I am a very old timer Mner . I am a prolific poster and I have never been mentioned in 'quote of the week' or weekly round up or anything ... and I am not that bothered. I have pretty thick skin ... so don't worry about it - the FOOC's thread is another part of the Rich Tapestry Of Mumsnet and I will bet you anything that MNHQ adore it ...

ClaudiaSlasher · 23/10/2008 03:43

Teafortwo, I think you are in danger of being fooc obsessed luv. It is good and lots of people post/read so be happy with that. You don't have to promote it all the time. I really don't think there is a MNHQ conspiracy against it.

Well done everyone on the fine result of the comps campaign. Thanks MNHQ.

teafortwo · 23/10/2008 08:45

exactly Ghosty!

But this thread isn't about the foocs, I only mentioned it because I thought there was a link to the comps - but now I think there is not - so I will leave you mners to chat comps - bye!
