So no one appeared to care when I brought it up before, but am I the only one who has problems with the fact that the mumsnet search is sponsored by yahoo?

Shitty shitty yahoo

Plus it's laughable that freecycle is run via it.

Surely you could find an open source thang?

It's mainly their dealings with the chinese government, though google are almost as bad.

I don't understand - my search function isn't sponsored by anyone. What do you mean, TDWP?

It is on the home page, not sponsored, but 'powered by' , presumably the other search functions are too?

[waits for a tech to come and tell her shes got it all wrong]

psychomum5 · 29/09/2008 22:04

what is wrong with yahoo anyway??

PortAndLemon · 29/09/2008 22:04

Ah, right -- Mumsnet search, not search messages. I've never even noticed Mumsnet search was there before, TBH.

BecauseImWorthIt · 29/09/2008 22:06

I haven't got a search function on my home page!

The site search is "powered by" Yahoo, rather than sponsored, as you noted. MN doesn't get (or give) any money for it.

Not sure what you mean by "presumably the other search functions are too"?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 29/09/2008 22:08

So, its bad because????

YetMoreTech · 29/09/2008 22:14

Not sure yet. Changing to Yahoo was a quick-fix solution to something.

NappiesGalore · 29/09/2008 22:14

never noticed mn search before. in fact, i still havent

S1ur · 29/09/2008 22:15

yahoo shared info about chinese users to chinese govn leading to arrests.

google censored their search facility for chinese govn.

It is all very wanky.

but I am not a boycotter.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 29/09/2008 22:15

Oh no.
Not cheap quick fixes.
They are never worth it.

Hello Pan

VeniVidiVickiQV · 29/09/2008 22:16

Arrests for what?

MrsThrower · 29/09/2008 22:18
