We'll be offline for a few minutes tonight

There will be a short period where Mumsnet is off the air tonight (Wednesday). Hopefully it won't be for more than a few minutes so there shouldn't be any need to, y'know, talk to your partners or anything.

Exactly how many unplanned pregnancies will there be do you think?

Seriously, I remember when there was once a MN downtime and a few weeks later the "Oh shit am I PG??" threads were 10 a penny.

I think I was one of them....

FabioTheFlouncingCat · 27/08/2008 18:03

Not an emoticon, but a link for HC

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 27/08/2008 18:04

the last time mumsnet was down, I spent a long while just clicking "refresh" in the hopes it would start working again!

I supposed I'm just going to have to study tonight [gasp]

JackieNo · 27/08/2008 18:04

Lol Fabio. I love that link.

cocolepew · 27/08/2008 18:06

Will you put the Test Card up? Or will it be blank? Or will you leave a message? Play musak?

morningpaper · 27/08/2008 18:07

Thanks, Fabio.
Consider it bookmarked.

bran · 27/08/2008 18:13

Will there at least be a 10 minute warning so we can get a bit of panic posting in?

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 27/08/2008 18:15

Add on the glaring at the broadband box to ensure still working, re-setting it, giving it a good kicking, and then whispering "please, I'm sorry, I'll be good, just connect to mumsnet, I'll do whatever you ask"...
Blame it on the broad band, despite knowing that other websites were working!

YetMoreTech · 27/08/2008 18:16

It's nothing to do with smileys. That's BigTech's thing and besides, you scared him so much last time he won't ever go near them again.

I don't know exactly when. Some time after I've made and eaten the dinner and before I go to bed.

I am not sure the duration of the outage warrants the test card to be honest.

The reasons for the downtime are far too dull to discuss; you won't notice any difference when it's back. Feel free to make up your own reasons though.

OMG it's a coup by NetMums

Stand firm ladies!

SpandexIsMyEnemy · 27/08/2008 18:18

you mean i'm actually gonna have to study tonight - hmm... ponders what's on the box!

Saturn74 · 27/08/2008 18:21

"Some time after I've made and eaten the dinner and before I go to bed".

Too vague!

What's for dinner?
How long will it take to cook?
Do you eat quickly or slowly - how many chews per mouthful?
Are you planning an early night?

Arrrrgggggghhhhhhhhh!

FabioTheFlouncingCat · 27/08/2008 18:22

Gahahhaahh coco!
You could be right!

Uriel · 27/08/2008 18:22

Hmph - you were offline at about 4.15 this morning. Isn't that enough?

IllegallyBrunette · 27/08/2008 18:23

A 'few' minutes is only 4 minutes in my book. Just enough time to go for a wee, make a drink etc.

Any longer and I will have nowt to do, so make sure it is only a few minutes.

cocolepew · 27/08/2008 18:24

If I'm right I'm telling you now I'm not hugging any of you fuckers huns.

TrinityRhino · 27/08/2008 18:24

omg you can't do this

I may need to get drinking now and change my name RIGHT nNOW so that I'm prepared

Saturn74 · 27/08/2008 18:24

I was asleep by 2am this morning.
It's good to have an early night now and again.

Uriel · 27/08/2008 18:25

Early night?!

TrinityRhino · 27/08/2008 18:26

hhmmmmm a few is three reeallly

do you think yetmoretech is having us on
I think he/she is just abusing his power

I reckon yetmoretech is going to break mumsnet for 13 minutes just for kicks....
I'm shaking already

YetMoreTech · 27/08/2008 18:27

"Hmph - you were offline at about 4.15 this morning. Isn't that enough?"

We do that every night, in order to have a bit of a sweep up, put new batteries in and put a note out for the milk man.

However, I am working on a master plan which will soon alleviate the need for all that, so you can enjoy us in all our 24/7 glory.
