Goading and group pile ons

I would be grateful if you could confirm what measures you take to deal with goady posters and pile on attacks. I am seeing this on here every day and nothing is being done about it. I have sent you two emails.

I am relatively new here but Ifeel theres a lot of obviously goady posts that are left up. One example springs to mind is a post abut all working mums taking advantage of their own mums for childcare. Clearly not something that actually happens and designed to stir the pot.

Sorry Eastern I hadn't realised when I posted back to Becky that she hadn't posted her response to me on SS and came her to read it. I replied to her on there. I need to go back over there and read what's gone on, sort it then I really am taking a break from today x

Ignore that, I'm getting threads mixed up. Hardly surprising when responses are being put on wrong threads.

Yes posters are less likely to see it. Site stuff responses are always on the actual thread not somewhere else.

It is very strange that it has been posted on LiW, but reading it again it opens with:

I don't know. If I did I wouldn't have asked! It hasn't appeared on any threads I have been on since yesterday.

It’s far worse on gransnet and you have to remember a lot of the mods are of the same persuasion as some posters. Depending which mod is on duty at the time a post could be reported but left up whilst another will be summarily deleted. As on GN (which I deserted a while back) certain posters will gang up and report in order to gain the upper hand on news & politics threads. Pathetic really but we see it in real life - protesters outside halls, concerts. Ppl being de platformed and cancelled. Scared if others hear a different view they just might agree!

Deletions vary depending on which mod is on duty but I don't think it is down to political bias. If it was, there (and I am assuming here by "same political persuasion" you mean left wing) would be far more deletions of posts supporting the far right etc.

It wasn’t stalking. It was an AI summary of the thread. The accusation of political bias in the moderation is nonsense. If that were the case far more deletions would be happening and entire threads would be removed.

On the thread you are talking about. If what was posted was considered "AI stalking", mnhq would have deleted it?

A pile on is basically a bunch of people disagreeing. How would ot be coordinated when nobody knows each other???
Mn is an anonymous forum, if people ate getting upset they need to step away. In my opinion mn moderation is inconsistent and lazy. Yhey basically look st the number of people reporting a post rather than considering whether it actually breaks any rules.

I disagree. Goading is deliberately provocative with a view to provoke. There’s plenty of it around on the political threads. Sometimes it takes the patience of a saint to rise above it.

Stalking has always been dealt with. The posts my stalker made were deleted at the point whereby I assume he was banned. An AI summary of a thread to my knowledge has only happened once and it’s difficult to see how it would contravene guidelines as it contains nothing that isn’t already on the thread.

It’s here in the response from @BeckyAMumsnetso if you see it they can delete it.

Don’t comb through someone’s posting history, speculate about their identity or activity elsewhere, or use AI to analyse their posts. And please don’t keep pressing someone to reply, or treat a lack of response as proof that they have no answer.

To be clear, what happened was that on the thread started by CoventryCity, another poster used AI to summarise the OP's posting style. AI will give you a profile of a poster based on what they have previously posted on MN - all of which is in the public domain.

That led to a number of people checking out their own username, to see what AI came up with.

It isn't stalking if you're doing it about yourself!
