This is a tedious new ad-related development. It covers half the page for approx 10 seconds and there’s no way to close it.

Hi @JurgenKloppsTeeth,

Thanks for sharing this, this is not normal behavior and have raised this with our partners. Can you let us know where you saw this?

Thanks,
MNHQ

I'm getting these ads constantly now - blocking the screen and making it unusable.

Chrome on a Samsung phone.

Exactly as pictured above

FuzzyPuffling · 21/07/2026 19:03

Me too. Chrome Android.
It's really annoying- I can't click on "notifications " as it is covered by the ads. There are ads for several different companies.

flapjackfairy · 21/07/2026 19:32

Me three ! it makes it v hard to read anything

JurgenKloppsTeeth · 21/07/2026 19:48

Me too, iPhone 13 safari. Makes the site pretty unusable and no way I can see to shrink or cancel the ad. Infuriating, hope you can fix it.

TomatoesintheGreenhouse · 21/07/2026 22:53

I've just had a similar modibodi ad - same orange text and styling.
iPhone using safari. iOS 26.5.2

WonderfulSmith · 21/07/2026 23:28

Same here. Sometimes the whole page is filled with ads.

It doesnt cover as much as half the page for me but it's still extremely annoying.

As you say there is no way of closing it.
The way it flashes on and then disappears is really migraine inducing for me

TheSlantedOwl · 22/07/2026 08:18

Same here - really intrusive and puts me off using the site.

ProfessionalTeaDrinker · 22/07/2026 08:20

When I click the topic of the forum I'm in to go back to that list of chats (not sure I'm making sense here!) it kept taking me to the site for the advert as well, as though I was clicking the advert - so even when it disappeared it was like the pathway for it was still there

Ksown · 22/07/2026 08:31

Same here, mobile site android

Yet again ads causing problems on MN. Why only this site? Other sites don't get these problems which have been going on for years!

DerekMumsnet · 22/07/2026 09:29

HI All,

We have tracked down the source of the issue and are in the process of fixing this.

Please bare with us and apologies. This not normal behavior and is a trafficking error, often caused by a mismatch in signals.

We have a more permanent soltuion that stops this from happening, however one of our advertising partners was mistakingly not covered.

This will hope to reduce the risk significantly of these types of ads blocking content.

Apologies again and thanks for your patience!

Hi all thanks for your patience, this is taking much longer than we expected!

It’s frustrating when we can’t fix things right away and are working as quick as possible with our partners to sort this out!

huge thanks to everyone who has reported this

Ad creators have focused too much on expanding the ad image, the effect of the ad leaves people with a bad experience, such as the example here.

This may, over time, be the opposite of what the ad was trying to do in the first place.
