The thread about the poster with a relative in ICU - why are you allowing posters to derail it? Some stuff is deleted but one poster is continually derailing it - where the hell are you all? Why are you allowing this? What is wrong with you?

She posted for support, no one cares about social housing or other random shit - how the hell do you actually think this is appropriate? What is wrong with you?

You know this site has a reputation as being incredibly shit now don’t you?

‘We’re here to support people blah blah’ - except when someone needs support, then you’re happy for them to be completely shat on from a great height aren’t you?

Becky, Justine, anyone else who works there - I hope you need support one day. You can come here and your thread can be completely derailed then you’ll maybe have a tiny lightbulb switch on. You’re a disgrace.

Hi OP,

We're sorry to hear that this has been your experience of Mumsnet. We understand why you're upset, and we've escalated your concerns.

We can see that some of the derailing posts have already been removed but we will be taking a thorough look at the thread.

Hi there. We do need to separate out two things here - a discussion broadening, and a thread being derailed. They’re not the same thing. Posters are allowed to bring in relevant experience or context, even on sensitive threads. That doesn’t mean we’re relaxed about unkindness, and we have removed posts where we think anyone has crossed the line.

The OP also hadn’t asked us to remove the thread, so we were wary of making that decision on their behalf. Removing a whole thread “for” someone can be quite a paternalistic call if they haven’t asked us to do it.

We’re happy to look at moderation concerns, but please don’t make personal attacks on individual members of staff. Abuse of the team doesn’t help us get to the right answer.
