@NoCommentingFromNowOn we do check from our side, but ads are not served identically to everyone. They can vary by device, browser or location among others, which means we may not see the same ad even while looking at the same page. That’s why screenshots help as they give us the specific version of the ad, and the time it appeared, which all helps us trace it more accurately.

We’ll continue checking ourselves too of course - problematic ads should always be reported and we appreciate it when users let us know about them.

@BeckyAMumsnet I tried adding screen shots but 48hrs later and the images on my post are still 'under review', why is this? How does a screenshot help you track the ads, you have no URL, just a still image from one of multiple threads where they are appearing?

If you can't control these adverts then maybe you should consider removing all adverts until you can resolve the issue.

Thank you, I think I wanted to say something like this but I’m too bloody angry to write it coherently.

@BeckyAMumsnet You seem to see fit to have these adverts on a site where just today I have seen threads about body issues, affairs, husbands having sex with prostitutes, death of loved ones, husbands messaging young women and more. These women have to run the gauntlet of these adverts (you described them as ‘grim’) before they can post for advice. You keep saying ‘sorry’ and asking for screenshots. When you are provided with screenshots by @JustPloddingOnBy you fail to clear them to be published, presumably because she has tried to post half naked pictures of extremely young looking women 😵‍💫. If they are somehow good enough to have for us to look at, then publish her screenshots. You’ve published everyone else’s. Were they approved by mistake?

And yes, what are you getting from the screenshots that you keep on asking for? Can you explain using a random screenshot please? Circle bits, say ‘this bit here shows this, that bit shows that, it’s useful to us because…’?

It honestly makes you look like none of you have a clue. Do you employ an IT person?

The fact is if the ad services you were using were not safe you could refuse to use it, you choose not to because you want the funding and its as simple as that. If you cant protect the users then you shouldn't be using them and after 10 days of this repeatedly happening that should have been done. This hasnt come from legit sources like Google ad services because I checked my own history and they were showing the legit ads, so this is another service pushing these ads through.

The responsibility is with Mumsnet and if you arent willing to use only legitimate services then a third party like ASA unfortunately has to then look into it. Mumsnet chooses to use these less protected ad generators and they should deal with the consequences of it far quicker than 10+ days.

I also fail to understand what the screenshots provide given they offer no URL, no background data and dont even show which ad service they are filtering from. You had the screenshots, more of the same provided zero additional data.

There needs to be accountability and whats been said suggests it out of Mumsnets control and it absolutely isnt, they choose which ad services to use and could cut these off if they were not able to shut down these ads.
