Is anyone else being bombarded by ads for 18+ websites? These ads are coming up in every thread dotted throughout the posts.

Morning, everyone. We're working on this as we speak and are hopeful we'll have these ads completely blocked very soon. Thanks for your patience with it. We'll update once the issue is completely resolved.

NoCareNoFair · 08/06/2026 12:48

The adverts are still appearing Angry

KellyMumsnet · 08/06/2026 12:59

Thanks @NoCareNoFair . If you (or anyone else still seeing them) could post a screenshot and tell us where you are seeing the ad that will help us get this sorted a bit quicker. Thanks again. Flowers

carwashthecat · 08/06/2026 13:47

I’ve been getting this ad too for the last couple of days..it’s popping up every 5 comments or so, on every topic I read.. is there any chance we could have just some normal run of the mill ads, which don’t involve selling sex or promoting some awful game depicting animal killing?

@KellyMumsnet they're on this thread, at the top of the screen so permanently on show.

They are still there, some of the girls look really young too.

With all due respect you always write this. On every single thread with complaints like this, that is your stock answer.

You've already had 18 screenshots, how many more do you want?

Why is it up to us to take screenshots of these adverts? Why don’t you all log on and take your own screenshots?

This is for @JoMumsnet and @LilyMumsnet and everyone else.

I genuinely can’t understand why you have so little control over this site 😵‍💫.

No other website I go on has the problems you seem to have.

mummabubs · 08/06/2026 15:23

Unfortunately not all gone as I've just had them today for the first time - and I promise it does not reflect any browsing history for me or my WiFi! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Grim.

For me it's now appearing on every single thread I click on (across multiple topics, pinned at the top of the home screen and now this one(!))

Exactly the same one for me!

Sunshineandgrapefruit · 08/06/2026 16:49

Same appearing either at top as a small ad or a larger ad embedded in the thread on pretty much every thread I click on. I could screenshot them all but the fact so many people are saying the same thing should be enough.

JustPloddingOnBy · 08/06/2026 16:56

I added screenshots to my post yesterday, but nearly 24hr on and it says they are still 'under review'. Disappointing that these adverts are allowed to proliferate the site but my screenshot of said adverts isn't allowed.

I just looked at your post, that was 7pm. Since then, @KellyMumsnet has again requested screenshots 😵‍💫.

What are you doing with all the screenshots of half naked young women @KellyMumsnet?

On second thoughts, don’t tell me 🤮.

Im flabbergasted that this is 2026 and it’s an international site and they can’t get a hold of this. Are they all part time? Kelly does 2 hours on a Monday morning, Jo does an hour and a half on a Thursday afternoon, and Lily just does it on a voluntary basis as and when?

Would this be accepted on any other website of any size, anywhere? Does the car one for men have this problem? Is it Piston Heads or something?

Hohofortherobbers · 08/06/2026 18:33

How can you not control the adverts? @KellyMumsnet@LilyMumsnet@JoMumsnetPresumably they have to pay you to advertise here, its not a free for all

LotusLovett · 08/06/2026 22:29

Yep, I'm still getting them on this thread as we speak. It's not good enough to keep saying you've sorted it then they reappear!

anotheruser124 · 09/06/2026 00:13

Just now on this post, this is honestly ridiculous and like others I fail to understand how Mumsnet have no control over the ads shown, surely they have to pay to advertise. Its alarming that these ads are being shown without any ability for Mumsnet to stop them, they are nothing to do with being related to browsing history because sites like this genuinely bother me so the fact I am constantly being bombarded by these ads when using the Mumsnet app is getting actually ridiculous.

Its really concerning if Mumsnet genuinely have no control over their own site for things like this to be happening for several days with no way to stop it, how much else do they have no control over? How safe is our data if they can't control what is shown on their own pages and app?

This has been being reported for close to 2 weeks and isn't being resolved, I have now reached out to ASA for advice as these ads should not be forced on people for several days uncontrolled. I dont believe these ads should be anywhere but if mumsnet cannot control them then this needs external investigation.

Hi all. We’re really sorry about this. These ads are grim and we don’t want them on Mumsnet. They shouldn't be anywhere, tbh, but here we are.

For a bit of background, because we know it can look as though we’re just allowing any old ad to appear. Like most sites, we use ad networks and exchanges, which means ads are supplied through a chain of platforms and partners. There are filters and blocklists in place, but bad actors can and do try to get round them, for example by changing the URL or sneakily changing how the ad appears after approval.

For us, this can feel like whack-a-mole. We block one version, then another version appears with a slightly different URL or from a different source. That doesn’t make it acceptable, and we’re not shrugging our shoulders about it. We’re asking our ad partners what more can be done so these are stopped before they get anywhere near the site.

Screenshots really do help us, annoying as that is. They let us trace the particular version that has appeared and block it properly. If you see one again, please send a screenshot if you can, and include the time you saw it if possible.

We've blocked the latest version of this awful ad. It may take around 30 minutes to stop showing. So if you still see it later today, please let us know.

Thanks,
MNHQ

Why don’t you get your own screenshots Becky?

Sorry but I’ve seen this suggestion before on previous threads and here, and still you seem to want other people to do this for you, why?

Are you saying you never ever see the ads that we do? Never?

@anotheruser124 Thank you for contacting ASA, and I’m sure today’s message from Becky has nothing to do with that……..
