Every time this advert is in a thread it opens the Amazon haul page, whether i want it to or not, (and I do not), even if I just breathe at it, boom, Amazon Haul opens. Its ridiculously sensitive and very very annoying. And it seems to be the only advert I am seeing across allllllll MN threads. Every time I try to scroll past it, it opens Amazon Haul. Every single time. Arggggghhhhh!!!!!

Mumsnet, you have been told about these over sensitive Amazon add repeatedly, why can't they be fixed?!?!?

Hi all,

Sorry to hear that these ads are causing problems for many of you.

We released a new version of the iOS app on Friday that should fix these ad issues, meaning they should only open if you deliberately click on them.
The app should update automatically, but if you're still experiencing problems please go to the App store and click on the Update button.

We're currently testing the new build on Android and aim to get that released as soon as possible.

Do let us know how you get on.

Hi everyone. Thanks so much for posting about this issue and sharing the screenshots. We have just released an update for Android that includes fixes for the Amazon and audio issues.

Please check your Google Play store today for an update if you think it hasn't happened automatically.

If you think you’re still seeing either issue on iOS or Android today after updating, please let us know.

Thanks for your patience.

Hi all,

A quick update on the issue some users have reported with Amazon ads opening unexpectedly in the iOS and Android apps.

We’ve now been able to recreate the issue, which means we can see what’s happening rather than trying to work from your reports alone. We're now working on a fix. From what we’ve seen, this appears to be happening when users interact with the ad area in the app, rather than deliberately tapping through to Amazon, so we do understand why it’s frustrating.

We'll update again we've released the fix, hopefully not much longer. Thanks so much to everyone who has reported it and shared details, it really does help and we're sorry for the annoyance in the meantime. Any questions/comments do let us know. 🙏

Hi everyone.

We’ve now released updated versions of both the Android and iOS Mumsnet apps which should fix the problem. If you use the app, please could you check that you’re on the latest version?

To do this, go to the App Store or Google Play Store, search for Mumsnet, and tap Update if the option is showing.

If your app is already up to date but you’re still seeing Amazon open unexpectedly, please let us know on this thread. Thank you.

Hi @Grrrpredictivetex please can we just check whether you've installed the latest app update?

If you click on active and then open the profile menu in the top right hand corner, you should be able to see the version number at the bottom of the menu. The latest is 45.3.6

If you're still using the previous version, please go to the app store, search Mumsnet and click on the update tab.

This update has resolved the issue for many Mumsnetters so please let us know how you get on.

Thanks for confirming that you're using the updated version, @Grrrpredictivetex - we're still looking into this issue but we know how irritating it is. Thanks for bearing with us.

Hi all, just copying over what we've just shared on the other site stuff thread.

Thanks for continuing to flag this. We appreciate it’s frustrating that some of you are still seeing the issue where the Amazon ad opens when scrolling on threads in the app.

We're continuing to investigate this as a priority and we've turned the ad off while we work on the issue, alongside longer-term ways to reduce the chances of this happening again.

Thanks to everyone who’s taken the time to share details with us. it’s really helpful for our investigation, and we appreciate your patience while we work on a fix.
