Home layout changed

My homepage layout is absolutely massive now, I've looked for another thread but there was only one from May where the screenshots look like what I have now! It's just so big and hard to navigate, you can only see 2 or 3 posts without scrolling as the beginning of the posts are taking up the screen.
Has anyone else got this recently??

So now you hate me enough to train a bunch of pigeons to poop on my new door mat.

Another screenshot below (don't get confused, folks). On the home screen I can only see 2 threads without scrolling, which isn't enough. The ads at the top and below block out space. I feel MN is looking more and more like Reddit, but with a Daily Mail-esque amount of ads. (Yes I do use an adblocker, soz.)

I also don't like the Featured page - what is that based on? One of the topics in the screenshot is highly specific and not relevant to most users.
Surely Trending makes for a better main tab?

It's awful! I keep going to the little active clock which looks more normal. Like others, the silver lining is it may save me time.

Can't stand it either.
Difficult to use.
Will deffo spend less time browsing mumsnet now.

I have realised that I have never accessed Mumsnet via the homepage (and I didn’t realise the logo with the hat on the ‘M’ was something you could click on). I have always gone in through ‘Mumsnet active’ and accessed threads I’m on etc etc via that route. So I’m not sure what it looked like previously.

Question for everyone - why do you access it via the homepage? It has links to all sorts of threads I’m not interested in eg baby stuff. I have all those sections switched off in settings, so Active is a much more accurate representation of things I want to read. What is the purpose of the homepage?

I’ve had to change so many browser settings to access the site at all through Safari. I have no idea what’s happened but every time I’ve tried to load the site it starts to load and then immediately crashes. I assume it’s happened to other safari users too. Bizarre.

The list at the top on the desktop are very messy. The 'threads I'm on' etc. It looks crap.

I usually find changes easy to adapt to after a time but I also find this update difficult to navigate. The trending button is also not working for me consistently.

My phone browser takes me to the home page by default, always has. This is what I get since a couple of days ago - two chunky thread titles/previews and half a big ad. If I click on any of the other tabs listed across the top I get the same layout, just a different couple of threads and another big ad. Previously my home page had a Mumsnet feature and immediately beneath that there was a box with 6 or 7 trending thread titles and you could scroll to different ones simply by clicking on a little refresh icon. I loved that, it was very user friendly. The new style is a pain in the butt, really demotivating for me. If you could measure my individual contribution to your site traffic you'd see I'm hardly bothering now.

Oh well.

Same. I've had active convos bookmarked since about 2007 😂😂😂

@BeckyAMumsnet I was struggling upload a picture so uninstalled and reinstalled the app, I absolutely hate this layout, I am on some long-standing threads which go up to 40 pages and now I have to just scroll to the end which takes forever, the direction/top-bottom arrows at the top of the app are too close together to be used effectively, and the only comment I can make on a post is 'thanks', no heart, no agree: what is going on? And I can't find the puzzles!
It's a huge 'no' from me, if the site stays the same it will be unusable for me. Very unhappy!
(I am accessing via my phone which is my main way of using Mumsnet)

Also, even if I do a 'thanks' I can't see if it's showing on the post.
And where are the puzzles?
I have figured out that the arrows can reverse the order of the posts so you can see the most recent post first, but that still doesn't help if I am looking for a post which previously was on a known page number, or if I am reading a popular thread and leave, when I return I can't find where I was up to. Really not user-friendly, to my mind.

Also, can't see where notifications appear, where are they?

My home screen (on laptop) is now threads (OP view) but worse instead of trending on the top right is now Shopping threads. I don't come onto MN to buy things. Like @TwinklyWrinkly I'm not interested.

If you want to change your vote on AIBU you no longer can, why has that changed? Sometimes I click on the wrong one by accident or on further reading feel I have changed my mind so valued that option: why has it changed? (Yes I am repeating myself but wanted to emphasize my point)

I came over to site stuff to check it wasn't just me. Can't find what I want, seem to be pushed to shopping now. Unbelievably irritating and hard to keep track of the threads I'm interested in. Giving up logging on with the phone, seems a bit easier on the computer but it's incredibly irritating.

Please change the layout back, it's awful!

In the meantime, it seems that a few of the comments on this thread might not be about the new homepage specifically, so we have a few follow up questions:

• @EchoedSilence – if you’re referring to thread lists (found here) (“Threads I’m on”, etc.), that’s part of the general Talk navigation rather than the homepage itself. We’ve shared your feedback with the team, but nothing has changed there as part of this homepage update.
• @meala – it looks like the screenshot you have shared is from a thread page, not the homepage. Does the trending box display like this for you on all threads?
• @Pudmyboy – it sounds like you’re using the app, and the issues you mentioned are not about the homepage on mobile browser, please can you confirm?

Puzzles are now on the drop-down "more" menu - just to the left of the big yellow "go ad free" button.

I absolutely hate the new layout, sorry. The small trending threads box was perfect, complete madness to get rid of it :/ I won’t be on here much until it comes back.

Thanks, that's on the webpage on my laptop, but I use my phone a lot for Mumsnet and it looks very different to the laptop page. I appreciate your response though😃

Yes, I am using the app because downloading the site from a browser on my phone proved unworkable, it crashed/froze/refused to upload a photo, whereas previously it had worked fine!
Are you suggesting I try to download the side from my search engine again? Why was the mobile search engine-derived website so impossibly glitchy over the weekend?
