For the first time, I've been using dark mode because of this week's user interface changes.
So, it's dark: a black background, with white text AND HUGE, LOUD, OFTEN WHITE-BASED ADVERTS RIGHT NEXT TO THE THREAD which destroy the calmer mood. How is dark mode supposed to work? Has MN ever actually considered how inappropriate it is to have large areas of plain white, bright colour, flashing images, etc, next to text on a black screen to which someone has retreated from the brightness & flashiness of light mode?
Is this a bug (please fix), or did someone design it like this (in which case, please explain the thinking because it doesn't make sense to me)?
NB I get ads which flash on & off as they try to load - I've reported them elsewhere.
