What’s up with the MN app?

It’s suddenly frozen.

Everything else on my phone is working as normal.

(Have had to go back to the mobile site to write this.)

Sorry to hear that you're having problems with the app. We have a few questions to help us get to the bottom of this -

  1. What device is it happening on? (i.e. iPhone 15, Samsung Galaxy etc)
  2. Can you recall the last few actions that you took before the app froze?
  3. Are you able to quit the app completely and reopen it again?
  4. And if you can quit it completely and reopen it again, could you please let us know what version of the app you're using? You can check this by opening the app, opening the profile menu in the top right hand corner and then you should be able to see the app version at the bottom of the menu

Hi all,

Just a quick update to say we're aware of the issue, and we're working on fixing it as soon as possible. We're really sorry this may continue to happen in the meantime. If you do encounter it, quitting the app completely and reopening it should allow you to get back in for now - but we’re aiming to get it properly resolved ASAP.

Regarding the menu staying open when you return to the app from a thread. We're not able to replicate this ourselves, so if it's happening consistently, we'd really appreciate it if those affected could send us a screen recording showing the issue. You can email it to us at [email protected].

Please reference this thread when mailing screen recordings.

We've just pushed out an update that should resolve the freezing issue. You may need to delete the app and reinstall it again for the update to kick in - can anyone still experiencing these issues, please uninstall and reinstall the app?

Morning, everyone. We thought we had fixed the freezing issue so we're sorry to hear this is still a problem. We're having trouble recreating the issue so we wanted to ask if people are doing anything in particular before the freezing happens? So are you taking a certain action/a series of actions right before the freezing occurs? Does the freezing seem to occur just on one page, i.e. on a topic page, a thread or active or is there no real pattern to it? Anything more anyone can tell us might help us to work out what's going on here.

We're also aware of the issue some users are taking about on iPad where the following menu is opening. We're looking to recreate and fix this now.

@JaneJeffer if you could send us a screen video of what happens when you try to post and share it with us at [email protected] we'll take a look.

Quick update on the username issue for @Preciousssssss and anyone else with the same problem. We have released a fix for this now, but it looks like the update isn't working immediately for everyone. Could you try completely quitting the app and then reopening it? You might need to do this a couple of times, but then the update should work and the username issue should stop being a problem.

Hi again,

We’ve just released a new version of the iOS app - the latest version is 45.1.1.
This update includes a fix for the issue affecting iPad users, where the side menu (including followed topics) was overlaying everything and couldn’t be dismissed without fully quitting the app. Thanks for your patience while we sorted this.

The update should be rolling out to users shortly. If you don’t see it right away, you might be able to go to the App store and update manually - though it may take a bit of time to appear for everyone.

If you spot anyone still posting about the issue, do feel free to point them here. And as ever, let us know if you’re still having problems after updating. Thank you.
