Active constantly refreshing

Why is Active auto refreshing all of a sudden? It's really annoying! I took a screenshot then opened a thread, went back and all new threads (screenshots attached). I see something I want to read but when I go back it's gone.

It's driving me nuts! I'm losing track of what I want to read, getting frustrated and end up heading off to another site. Really off-putting randomly getting the alternative site layout, which is unattractive, losing track of new threads but just seeing the same older threads featuring on the homepage even if they aren't very active. Not enjoying using mumsnet at the moment.

Letsbehappy · 22/05/2025 19:18

I'm having the same issue too. So frustrating when you see a thread a couple of rows down and when you go back it's gone!

BrightBlueFlamingo · 22/05/2025 21:18

Yes, this happens to me too. Please put it back to how it was!!!!!

Jellifer · 22/05/2025 21:19

Me too! Please sort this out, been happening all day and driving me bonkers!

GandTtwice · 22/05/2025 21:33

I thought it was just me and that I was pressing something in error. It is really annoying

Game0fCrones · 22/05/2025 21:44

It's probably all the ad scripts. There's definitely been a corresponding uptick in reloads since the ads increased.

JoMumsnet · 23/05/2025 12:06

Thanks for flagging this, @Pinkywoo

We're looking into this issue and will be back with an update as soon as we can.

Pinkywoo · 24/05/2025 11:53

Any update @JoMumsnet ?

It's been driving me insane! Everything else is OK - if I click on a thread in "I'm watching" the link opens and when I go back to "I'm watching" it is still the same, but Active is constantly changing.

As I'm on my laptop I am having to resort to opening each thread in a new tab so that the Active list doesn't refresh.

MerylSqueak · 24/05/2025 12:21

I hate it too. While I'm here, I also hate it that thread recommendations at the bottom of the screen are based on things I have already looked at. Thanks but I've already looked at them!

DirtyBird · 24/05/2025 12:59

This is happening to me as well. Plus when I usually go back it takes me to the same place on the page but now it’s bumping me back to the top thus I have scroll back down to find the last post I read.

SkibidiSigma · 24/05/2025 19:45

Just come on to post about this, it is driving me bonkers.

mechanicalpencil · 24/05/2025 22:26

Me too please.

HEC2746 · 25/05/2025 09:37

Still happening this morning…

mechanicalpencil · 25/05/2025 10:31

Yes, same here. I think I’ll have to give it a break as so many issues are sadly making the MN experience so much less enjoyable than before. Scrolling MN on a weekend morning with my tea was one of my favourite weekend activities. I’ve lost a number of interesting looking threads again this morning due to not being able to remember what they were as when I clicked back they were gone and instead all new threads and then trying to rack my brains to remember what they were…
That plus the “repeated error on MN” where the page won’t load… 😟 and just all blank spaces.

user1481837070 · 26/05/2025 09:17

I’m having this too (using safari on my iPad). It happened before and it was fixed. Hoping it can be fixed again. Thanks for looking into this mumsnet.

EveryKneeShallBow · 26/05/2025 09:20

Adding my voice to the chorus. Please fix this, it’s horrible.

dontcryformeargentina · 26/05/2025 10:03

Me too

unbelieveable22 · 26/05/2025 10:14

Thankfully not just me. It's incredibly frustrating.

BrightOrangeDahlias · 26/05/2025 20:07

Following and adding my two penn'orth: it's been annoying me over the last few days as well.

motherstongue · 26/05/2025 22:12

I’m also not enjoying this happening

SleepingisanArt · 26/05/2025 22:24

The 'issue' will be that a developer has made a change to the site software and not properly tested the whole site before publishing it. I was a software tester for a number of years and developers test the bit they've updated but forget that a change in one part can break a different area, hence the need for testers (who behave like end users). Like others I'm spending less time on the site because it's too frustrating - do MN even care about their users?

ElidaGibbs · 26/05/2025 22:33

I thought it was a problem with my phone! Yes, it's very frustrating - please fix it, MNHQ.

Howinthehelldidthishappen · 27/05/2025 13:10

I hate it. I'm really struggling to spend much time on the site. Although, that may be a good thing 😂
