I can’t currently use this site for more than a few minutes. It lags, it freezes very often, and it heats my phone up (new iPhone 16, fully up to date, cookies cleared regularly) to the point I have to switch it off, within about 5 minutes. This has been a problem for months.

I’m pretty sure it’s an advert problem. I have no idea why this site is unusable but others I can use without issue.

If this is a problem for me I’m certain it is for others.

Tbh my life would probably be more productive without MN, but presumably for you this site relies on users?

Any chance this could be fixed?

My phone was getting VERY hot too and I was about to ditch it and buy a new one! I won't do so now I hear others are having the same problem

I don't like the App because it doesn't mark where you last left off reading, which is irritating.

Rather annoyingly I’ve found that the problems don’t exist if using safari browser. I prefer chrome though so having to switch browsers for one website is getting old pretty fast.

I don’t use the app, just via Safari on my iPhone/ipad.

Once Safari is similarly clogged up with MN's broken ads you'll have the same issues as you did with Chrome.

It seems the only way to solve it is to clear ALL the data for ALL websites from whichever browsing app you're using on your device. You could maybe figure out which specific sites to clear out but it's not as simple as just deleting data for 'Mumsnet.com' because the ads can be from different URLs.

This thread www.mumsnet.com/talk/site_stuff/5123498-constantly-crashing-and-freezing?page=5 talks about deleting the MN data (last page) but there are other threads where the same advice is given and many report that they had to delete data for ALL sites.

Of course doing this means you'll lose any autocomplete entries (passwords for the sites, etc.) from your browser, and then in future weeks/months when you've just finished putting them all back, it will be clogged up with MN ad rubbish again. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I tried clearing my entire browsing history (which then causes great inconvenience to myself) and it made no difference.

Bumping this, because I’m having the same problem for the last week or so. iPad/Safari/ 18.5, everything freezes, and can’t load other websites after using MN. I have to force/quit Safari, then reload if I want to browse any other site.

Please do something about it, MNHQ!

Agree that it often freezes and then won't allow one onto a different site
