Disable Ad Blocker nightmare!

TulipTiptoer · 10/04/2025 20:15

Can MNHQ help? I get continual pop ups saying DISABLE AD BLOCKER. It will happen every time I click somewhere on MN, and after about 3 times when I 'proceed without disabling' it will block me from doing anything, and just says in the pop up 'contact support' which I have done but not heard anything.

My Ad Blocker is disabled... it says this....

You’ve configured AdBlock to remain paused on this site for every visit.

I'm not sure what more I can do?

I use laptop and Chrome.

Hi @TulipTiptoer sorry to hear you're having this issue - it sounds very frustrating.

Here are a few things you could try:

  • Update both Chrome and Ad Block to the latest version
  • Sometimes, outdated or corrupted data can cause issues. Clearing your browser's cache and cookies might help
  • Ensure that no other Chrome extensions are interfering. Sometimes, extensions like antivirus software or privacy tools can block ads. To check, go to Chrome's menu > More Tools > Extensions, and disable any that might block ads.

Do please let us know how you get on.

Oh, and a couple of other things we've thought of!

  • It's worth checking if you have any ad blocking enabled on your router
  • and also worth checking if any anti virus software you're running may have ad blocking enabled

Thanks!

Ah, that's great news. Thanks for letting us know Smile

Hi all,

To help us troubleshoot, we’d really appreciate it if you could let us know the following -

  1. What browser are you using to access the site?

  2. Do you have any of the following installed:

Ad blockers:

  • Adblock
  • Adblock Plus
  • uBlock Origin / uBlock Origin Lite
  • Adguard Extension
  • Adremover
  • Ultrablock
  • Malwarebytes Browser Guard

Privacy/tracking extensions:

  • Ghostery
  • Privacy Badger
  • Disconnect
  • Firefox Tracking Protection
Other extentions:
  • Adguard
  • DuckDuckGo
  • VeePN

If you're not sure, you can usually check by looking at your browser's extensions/add-ons list.

Thanks in advance - your replies will really help us figure out what might be triggering the issue so that we can get to the bottom of it.

For anyone still having this issue could you let us know if you have any other antivirus softwares installed?
