Is there an option to find your own posts easily on a thread?

ByGraceAlone · 08/01/2025 20:38

I go to theads I'm on but my last post might be from the day before pages back.

I want to take something I've said from one of my posts and I'm trawling a whole days and pages of posts to find my posts.

Is there a 'find my own posts' button that I'm missing?

@nonbinaryfinery on the app there is a symbol at the top of the screen when on a thread. Looks like a funnel. Click that and you can see all an OPs comments without premium

TheyCantBurnUsAll · 08/01/2025 23:09

Is bookmark on the app? How is it done? This would be useful knowledge for me!

Pat888 · 08/01/2025 23:12

What does the bookmark do? Does it make it easier to get back to a post or is it just a blue bookmark which does nothing else?

When you go back into a thread, if you have clicked bookmark previously, it takes you back to the post you have bookmarked, even if the thread has hundreds more posts on it since.

Pat888 · 09/01/2025 05:32

So that would solve the can’t find my posts issue.

squishee · 09/01/2025 06:02

On desktop browser open the thread, CTRL +F and in the search field, enter part of your username.

Ollybob · 09/01/2025 06:44

When I click on the I'm on button on the banner at the bottom it shows all the threads I have posted on.
I then click on the particular thread I want to see and it takes me straight to the last post I wrote.
To see others you have to skim the thread to spot your colour if you have changed it or search.

ListenDontJudge · 09/01/2025 06:46

Just search your name. Three dots top right hand corner, 'find in page'.

@TheyCantBurnUsAll If you're on the iphone app, there is an arrow pointer to the right of the message, slide the reply you want to bookmark to the left, you will find several options, including bookmark.

Dont use the App, it is useless, use the mobile site instead and use custom to colour code your own posts. Also use find on chrome

Where is 'custom'? I can't see anything under Settings on the website. Thanks!

Use "find in page" or whatever your chosen browser calls that feature. Then search your username on the page and it'll find all your posts.

Also highlight your posts in a nice colour via your talk settings. That helps too.

Brilliant! Thanks for this 'Find in page' suggestion. It helps with finding your posts and is better than nothing if we can't use "See all" feature for our own posts on threads.

This is great thank you.
I didn't know about this function, this will solve the issue.

But Mn should have a see all your own posts option.

I agree, I always struggle with the same thing you wrote in your OP trying to find a certain post of mine on a specific thread and it can be frustrating. I think it's in their premium feature.

TwattyMcFuckFace · 08/01/2025 22:28

You can only filter all the OPs posts on a thread unless you pay for premium.

Not true, this feature is available to all but I'm not sure you can do it if you use the app?

It’s true I’m afraid. You can advance search any username of course to get all posts and perhaps use dates if necessary.

Oblomov25 · 11/01/2025 11:17

Of course you can do this, but I can't do it on my phone. I can only do it if I log onto the site via my laptop and then you can do an extended search by your username by certain threads by times by a word search all sorts of things and that way I can always find every thread I've ever posted on for the last 20+ years on MN, using that search which is very good.

Oblomov25 · 11/01/2025 11:18

Advanced search per pp photo. Easy. How on earth did the rest of you not know about this? Hmm

Just in case it's not obvious, find in page is a feature for all the internet, not only on here.

But it's not a question about how to use the advanced search feature. It's about how to see all your posts on a specific thread - you can filter to see just the OP's posts but unless you have MN Premium you can't filter to see just your own.

Advanced search isn't the best or easiest way to do what @ByGraceAlone wants to do!

Yes, I realised I read it wrong, despite quoting 🤦‍♀️

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 11/01/2025 12:48

Go to the top of the page, click the V next to where it says Talk, select Customise and pick a coloured background for your own posts - that makes them easy to spot on the thread. You can select a different colour for the OP’s posts too, if you want.

Hope this helps, @ByGraceAlone.

SevenWeeks · 11/01/2025 12:49

On desk top - use the filter to see all the OP's posts, then go into the address bar on your browser and overtype the OP's username with your username, and refresh.
