Can I ask please why a thread was deleted?

It was deleted in the last 15 mins, the one about Flaky friends. I was about to post an answer on it and saw it's been deleted for breaking talk guidelines. But there was only about 21 posts on it and none of them were in the least bit offensive or controversial that I could see. How could something have been posted so quickly that was so offensive the entire thread was deleted , why not just delete an offensive post rather than the whole thread??

We removed the thread because we don't believe it was started by a genuine poster. We have tools behind the scenes that help us spot this, but we can't share too much about it. Sorry that the thread was lost, and feel free to start new topics for anything you want to discuss.

Hi again Lilifer - we've updated the deletion message on that thread to reflect the fact that the OP was a previously banned poster.

We do try not to delete whole threads if we can possibly help it, especially if a good discussion is going on. But we have to balance that with not wanting to encourage trolls, and not wanting people to waste their time responding to a thread that isn't genuine.

Hi @JaneJeffer . Thanks for getting in touch. We've had a look back over those posts. They both sounded like troll posts to us and a look behind the scenes confirmed that. We just try to stop these types getting a foothold where we can and get rid of them as soon as possible.
