Does anyone else think more people are posting in 'other subjects' and 'chat' to ensure maximum visibility of a thread?

I reckon so, I think the board is maybe going to morph back to one big area because many people choose to post in chat and other subjects rather than, say, 'education' in case people have hidden education as a topic. In which case might there be a case for chat thread not being deleted after 90 days?

(Btw, I haven't done this, but I did post a childcare dilemma yesterday under nannies etc and then realised I couldn't see if because I'd hidden childcare as a topic!)

but it must give you a very odd idea of what mumsnet is about

if i was logical i wouldnt be on a forum called mumsnet at all as i have all but grown out of parenting

zippitippitoes · 13/04/2008 09:56

i put stuff in chat if people find it interesting they reply and if they dont it quickly disappears to oblivion thankfully

nice and simple

thats my method

but most of what i post is of negligible ongoing interest like planning my social life

Beetroot · 13/04/2008 09:56

you don't grow out of parenting , you grow out of nappies and babies

my favourite thread is actually the veggers and that is in health

unfortunately it means that a lot of personal stuff is archived but i just reckon no one is going to look as it is too difficlut to search

it is a nice microcosm with lovely peope and we talk about random stuff

I have not hidden anything. Even if I am not presently interested in nappy rashes, breastfeeding, sleep, etc, I might still be able to catch a poster crying out for help and be able to advice.

I dont post in Chat unless "I have to". I find chat is moving so fast the thread is at the bottom of the section before you blink. If I post in Parenting, Property, Education or the relevant catergory I know that in addition to active convos (where it will disappear from pretty quick) I still have a chance of somebody interested in that particular topic going to that section and see my thread nearly at the top there.

zippitippitoes · 13/04/2008 10:02

i am a never go anywhere but active convos person

i never go to fro eg the depressed board to see what is on there as i dont particlluarly want to post on that board

but if i see a thread title which catches my eye i might post and then it is in threads im on if i want to catch up with it

AitchTwoOh · 13/04/2008 10:05

oh lord it's because things are deleted that i post in chat. don't hide much, for sale, antenatals etc.

TrinityTheProgressingRhino · 13/04/2008 10:10
