How do I get rid of the BabyGaia advert?

This ad keeps coming up & I'm sick of seeing it. I've tried reporting it to google under all 4 options, but it immediately comes up again. Once I reported it about 5 times in a row & a different ad appeared - only for the BabyGaia one to appear as the banner at the top of the page! What part of 'I'm not interested in this ad' does google not understand?

Think I'll have to. It's now running at the side AND the top!

But to me, if someone's fed up enough to go through the process of saying they're not interested in an ad, surely the sensible thing to do is never show it to them again. Not put the same ad up over & over & over....

I came onto the site stuff to report this particular advert as well. It's especially annoying and distracting because it's got a video on repeat. And it keeps reappearing every time I open a new page!!

I have an ad blocker!

ifIwerenotanandroid · 26/05/2024 11:37

@IKnowYouBetterThanThat D'you mean it breaks through the ad blocker?

I find it's putting me off being on MN!

Yes, it does get through somehow. It's not the only one though. I may have accidentally allowed ads on this site perhaps. I don't tend to mind the still ads but this particular one is very annoying!

Clear your cookies

IKnowYouBetterThanThat · 27/05/2024 14:27

Aw, I cleared my cookies and it was ok for a few pages but now it's back!

Think I'll give mumsnet a miss for a week or two!

Hi @ifIwerenotanandroid and @ifIwerenotanandroid

We're really sorry this ad's causing issues for you. Can you please give us some details about the device / browser / version of the site you're using so we can take a closer look here? Thanks in advance.

dudsville · 27/05/2024 14:33

almos all my adds are based on where I shop. COuld you spend some time scrolling shops to steer it away?

Chromebook using Chrome set to 'block annoying ads & popups', free version of MN.

Did you mean to include @IKnowYouBetterThanThat , or am I really so good you named me twice?😁

Please, MN, get rid of this advert! Sometimes it plays in all 3 locations at once. And I've just tried to sit through it to count how many times it replays in one go & I gave up at 22!

I'll report this post so as to bring it to your attention again, & I'll tell you there why I dislike it so much. But in principle, shouldn't an user be able to choose not to see an ad? I've tried, multiple times, but I can't stop it playing over & over & over again. If there's a way to choose which ads we see, please explain it, because google ads is unresponsive.

Same here OP. I'm sick of seeing it, and despite my ad block and telling Google multiple times that I'm not interested etc, it's there on every page I load. I hate ads that auto play videos. I wish it would bugger off.

MN, I'm on Chrome too.

HebeMumsnet · 29/05/2024 11:36

Morning, everyone.

We've had a further look at this ad this morning. It's the correct size and ratio etc, so you should be able to scroll past it as well as close it with the 'x' at the top.

However, you're correct that it hasn't been behaving as it should. It shouldn't be popping up again endless times, and we're fixing that right now, so hopefully shouldn't be a problem for much longer.

Thanks for letting us know.

HebeMumsnet · 29/05/2024 12:41

Back with a quick update as we're still looking at this ad and we think a lot of the problem might be to do with 'user' selections rather than the ad itself.

If you have selected 'withdraw consent' essentially the cookies won't work, so the capping that applies to the number of times our ads will appear won't apply and you will get ads, over and over again. If you go to "Privacy settings" and select 'accept all', those cookies will work better.

You'll experience the same issue if you have an ad blocker installed. We don't allow ad blockers as part of our Ts and Cs - there's a fuller explanation on this thread, and so what happens is ads will still turn up but the cookie info attached to them won't apply and you'll have the ads appearing too often or incorrectly. If you uninstall the ad blocker that should sor the issue.

IKnowYouBetterThanThat · 30/05/2024 12:59

😂OK so I disabled my ad blocker for this site and I don't see the BabyGaia advert anymore. Instead I've got the Taylor Swift one and that doesn't even have an X in the corner 😂

ifIwerenotanandroid · 13/06/2024 20:13

Many thanks to whoever disabled the ad. 💐I'm very relieved not to have to see it any more.

I didn't change any settings; it just disappeared. Btw, scrolling past didn't seem to work & neither did clicking the 'X' - it just came back immediately or after one different ad.
