MN, as the "OP" won't address it in the thread - Advertisements disguised as threads

To think I've cracked it?

Seems like a normal thread until you scroll down and realise the product the "OP" is discussing is endorsed by MN and they are being paid to advertise it here.

I paid for a subscription to avoid ads because they are at best annoying and intrusive, and at worst inappropriate. I'll be cancelling if this is the sort of sly tactic you are going to use to shove poor quality rubbish from Amazon down our throats.

It's a shame, because I always trusted threads to be from real people making real recommendations as you can no longer rely on actual product reviews to be legitimate. Looks like you can't even trust a Style and Beauty thread to be true either!

Hello @PainPeas thanks for posting. We're happy to clarify that we're not associated with the OP of this thread, and we would never advertise a product or service in an underhand way. There are advertising rules we have to follow, which you can find more details on here.

We do carry some affiliate marketing links, so if you buy something through our posts, we may get a small share of the sale.

We have no good reason to think the OP here is associated with the product, and generally, spammers are usually pretty easy to spot. A huge part of MN is people recommending products and services to each other (or not, as the case may be), and we have no issue with this so long as they're genuine.
