Numbered lists are misaligned

If I include a numbered list in my posts, then when I submit them, the first item is always indented by auto-formatting, but subsequent items aren't, so it looks untidy. I'd prefer it if no auto-formatting was done at all, or if there was some way for me to control it. Here is an example, which will (hopefully) demonstrate the issue when I submit this post:

Item 1

Item 2
Item 3

Go to post

I'm going to try this out myself.
They look like they're aligning for me.
If this still aligns when I hit 'post' we'll see if anyone else here can figure out a way round it and get back to you.
