Annoying pop up ‘Put a question to Bridget Phillipson…’

This is appearing on every page I open with no option to close it. It does seem to disappear after a while (feels like ages), but it’s very annoying. Especially as it doesn’t load instantly, and I’ve gone to click on something else but it appears as I click. I don’t want to ask a question.

Twice every time I go on MN is too much! Surely we don't need a constant pop up on this?

Can you please make it go away, it is exceptionally annoying!

DontDareToGetOld · 27/09/2023 16:12

This is so irritating!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 27/09/2023 16:14

Me too, so irritating.

BBno4 · 27/09/2023 16:14

Mumsnet have to make money, your going to have to deal with these things. You know you ain't going anywhere else...

EllaMenopee · 27/09/2023 16:14

It's just happened to me twice on this thread 🙄

NonMiDispiace · 27/09/2023 16:17

It’s every few minutes regardless of which thread 😡

LilyMumsnet · 27/09/2023 14:58

Hi all

We've now fixed this and the popup will show twice per session, and not appear again after that. Flowers

Hi @LilyMumsnet given you have had feedback from at least two visually impaired people that this impacts the accessibility of the website for them, and given that the equalities act states that websites need to be accessible can you explain how this fixes the issue for partially sighted people please?

Songlines · 27/09/2023 17:02

If I'm anything to go by then I'll definitely NOT be asking her a question, even if I'd wanted to.
You might find that this has exactly the opposite effect to that you intended.

StJulian2023 · 27/09/2023 17:19

It’s good practise for all pop ups to have a clear ‘close’ option. Agree it’s intrusive and annoying

FlyingFlamingo · 27/09/2023 17:24

I’m joining in to say please make it stop!

Levriers · 27/09/2023 17:43

Still happening !!!

U2HasTheEdge · 27/09/2023 18:05

It hasn't stopped here either.

Killingmytime · 27/09/2023 18:20

And me

GOODCAT · 27/09/2023 19:02

Seeing it at all is still annoying. I am not interested in it at all and don't want to see this at all. Can we at least have some settings that let us stop this completely?

Whinge · 27/09/2023 19:35

Another one who wants it to stop. It's very distracting and intrusive, and I feel sorry for those with visual impairments who have voiced concerns and been completely ignored by MNHQ. Sad

MapleSyrupWaffles · 27/09/2023 19:41

another one who finds it very annoying. It was appearing on every single page when I was trying to post earlier, and every time I press the back or forward button, which I do loads in a session. I never click on pop-ups, other than to try to make them go away, and this didn't even have that option.

DuckWithOneWing · 27/09/2023 19:55

Please can it stop? I can't use one arm so I do things a bit differently, and it's really getting in the way

TheYearOfSmallThings · 27/09/2023 20:28

It is coming up more than twice and it is staying up a loooooong time.

YewandOak · 27/09/2023 21:51

Every time I go to the next page,it pops up. So annoying. Twice in one session you say? Errrr no,more than that.

Please get rid of it,many of us aren't in the bit interested.

melj1213 · 27/09/2023 22:02

This is so fucking annoying - it's still coming up on every single page so that "only twice a session" is absolute rubbish.

Just make it stop!

Caswallonthefox · 27/09/2023 22:25

Da fuq mnhq?
Who decided this was a viable idea?

BookShark · 27/09/2023 22:55

Why is there no option to close it? Surely that's the easiest answer?

And twice per session is rubbish - I dip in and out so have multiple sessions per day. Does this mean I need to keep a Mumsnet tab open all day if I want to avoid getting the message every time I want to spend a few minutes browsing? Because the simple answer is that at that point, I'll find something else to read...

AtrociousCircumstance · 27/09/2023 23:19

It’s too persistent. It ruins the flow of the site. Please allow us to click it off at least.

StopProcrastinatingGerald · 27/09/2023 23:21

My question for Bernadette Philson: why are you in my headspace by appearing on every single mn thread I click on????

CoughingMajoress · 28/09/2023 00:18

I guess I just can't use Mumsnet at all until after the webchat. Glad it's only one day, but what a shame that disabled people aren't allowed access!
