Annoying pop up ‘Put a question to Bridget Phillipson…’

This is appearing on every page I open with no option to close it. It does seem to disappear after a while (feels like ages), but it’s very annoying. Especially as it doesn’t load instantly, and I’ve gone to click on something else but it appears as I click. I don’t want to ask a question.

Yep, incredibly irritating, please get rid!

Alstroemeria123 · 27/09/2023 14:28

Yes, please make it stop. It’s annoying and you can’t get rid of it.

TheShellBeach · 27/09/2023 14:29

Argh make it go away!

GrumpyPanda · 27/09/2023 14:31

Same, on Samsung browser. Never had pop-ups before. Highly irritating.

isthewashingdryyet · 27/09/2023 14:31

It is annoying me too, please make it stop.

thank you

vodkaredbullgirl · 27/09/2023 14:35

Think it's stopped

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 27/09/2023 14:36

Mine hasn't stopped,it's so annoying.

toastofthetown · 27/09/2023 14:39

I think mine’s stopped too. MNHQ haven’t said anything though, so every page I’m looking at the bottom left and waiting for it.

Alstroemeria123 · 27/09/2023 14:41

Roystonv · 27/09/2023 14:42

Not stopped here

LilyMumsnet · 27/09/2023 14:44

Hi all,

This is just to say - we've seen the thread and are looking into the popup. Thanks for flagging and we'll be along with an update soon. Flowers

Songlines · 27/09/2023 14:45

Not stopped here, intensely irritating.
I'm stopping scrolling and going off to the bbc website instead!

TheMurderousGoose · 27/09/2023 14:46

mine had fooled me into thinking it had gone only to pop up again.

little bastardy banner.

Certainlyreally · 27/09/2023 14:51

yup - no idea who she is, but may just join to ask her to stop it Grin

Madamwahselle · 27/09/2023 14:54

I thought it was to do with the update about freeloading (mnhq words not mine) members - it says we are going to get ads now even if we have an ad blocker

LilyMumsnet · 27/09/2023 14:58

Hi all

We've now fixed this and the popup will show twice per session, and not appear again after that. Flowers

Thanks for fixing that, and I have a few more questions. Why twice and not once (which is still more than one time I want to see it)? Would it be possible to change the pop-up at least to one which is able to be closed by the user? What is a session? On my phone I browse in private mode, so I assume a session is any time my tab reloads I’ll get it twice. But on my laptop which I never restart not on private does a session run indefinitely. Some users have reported accessibility concerns with the pop up, and not sure if those have been addressed alongside the reduction in view counts.

And is there a reason this is being promoted so heavily? Normally chats are on the (many) MN sponsored threads on every page anyway, so having an intrusive pop up in addition to everything already promoted to me as I browse is wearing.

Thanks@LilyMumsnet

Alstroemeria123 · 27/09/2023 15:31

It’s definitely come up for me more than twice this session, and has just popped up again.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 27/09/2023 15:37

5x this season 🙄

PinkBuffalo · 27/09/2023 14:19

Same! I have no clicked on it in case I end up in the discussion by accident

Same here.

Plasmodesmata · 27/09/2023 15:53

Can we not click on it to make it go away? And twice per session - does this mean if I look at Mumsnet again later I'll see it again? (still not interested....)
