Thread deletion

JustineMumsnet · 27/02/2008 10:42

In case anyone was wondering what happened to the thread,
Parenting : do you think its acceptable, for kids to be playing football outside your house all the time, hoofing the ball etc

...we deleted it on the grounds of it being an utterly pointless and extremely time consuming slanging match.

So I guess we might have stumbled upon some new deletion criteria - be warned if a thread ticks all those boxes it's in danger. And a reminder - MN's here to make parents' lives easier not make them cross.

Play nicely now,
MN Towers

at new deletion criteria

"Utterly pointless and extremely time consuming slanging match" ... sums up about 90% of MN threads though ...

AitchTwoOh · 27/02/2008 10:45

Amen.

Do you lot at MN ever regret what you got yourselves into? I can imagine what your vision of your website was going to be: nice mothers sharing advice and offering support to other mothers. All civilised and genteel.

I sometimes wonder if your vision has been soured by what we (I use that word loosely as I don't really feel part of the slanging match brigade) have done with your site?

oh really? is there going to be a 'report blog post' button as well? cos that mrsjc has been posting the most outrageous things...

ShinyDysonHereICome · 27/02/2008 10:52

I think it would sometimes almost be worth having a section just for thread deletions just so MNHQ can list what's been deleted and why it would save us all the trouble of searches.

JustineMumsnet · 27/02/2008 10:56

Blogs will have a report function (we working on it) and will be subject to the same rules as talk - ie no personal attacks. In the meantime do drop us a line with the url if you spot any transgressors.
Thanks

ps Wigwam haha - guess you're right - it's a matter of degree I suppose.

threads being deleted for being pointless? i may as well resign my membership now then....and anyway what is wrong with a good old slanging match??

stleger · 27/02/2008 10:57

It's a bit like threads about unhealthy food making me want chips. If something has gone and I haven't seen it I feel a little disappointed!

"utterly pointless and extremely time consuming slanging match"

Well what about this then

It seems to be a theme on here sometimes?

BettySpaghetti · 27/02/2008 17:49

Oh, I missed that one.

Justine -any chance you can put a warning up by the side of the thread title if your finger is hovering over the delete button? That way people like me can quickly read it and needn't miss out

nkf · 27/02/2008 17:59

But the best threads ARE the utterly pointless ones.

TripleyTigger · 27/02/2008 18:12

Nooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!

What about Cods ones then?

Its the only chance I ever get to speak to her when shes having a 'I'm deleting everyone day'

By the way what did happen to her last thread? It all seemed very nice and calm, but when I went back it said the thread no longer exsisited!!!!

Ohhhh I agree, perhaps we could have a little angry face that pops up when the thread is getting norty!!!
